Lucy Coleman
Lucy Coleman (born 29 March 1998) is an Australian representative lightweight rower. She is an Australian national champion and has represented at senior World Championships. Club and state rowing Coleman was raised in far western NSW and boarded at St Hilda's School in Southport where she took up rowing. She first made state selection for Queensland in the 2017 women's youth eight which contested the Bicentennial Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. Coleman then studied at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma and rowed at varsity level. She won a silver medal in a lightweight women's double scull at the US IRA Championships in 2018. Following her return from the USA she rowed from the Sydney University Boat Club. In 2021 in SUBC colours she won the open lightweight women's quad scull title at the Australian Rowing Championships and placed second in the open lightweight double scull. AACTA Award For Best Indie Film
The AACTA Award for Best Indie Film is an award presented by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) since 2018. The award is presented at the annual AACTA Awards, which hand out accolades for achievements in feature film, television, documentaries and short films. Since 2024 the awards have been held at the Gold Coast, Queensland. History The establishment of the AACTA Award for Best Indie Film was announced on 1 May 2018. The inaugural award was won by ''Jirga (film), Jirga'', directed by Benjamin Gilmour. Eligibility The intention of the award is to allow "a pathway into competition for a greater number of films from filmmakers with diverse backgrounds (gender, sexual and cultural diversity), as well as films from emerging filmmakers". Anneka Reardon
Anneka Reardon (born 4 September 1997) is an Australian representative lightweight rower. She is a five time Australian national champion and has represented at senior World Championships. Club and state rowing Reardon was raised in Tasmania and first coached in sculling by her father Mick. Her senior club rowing was from the Lindisfarne Rowing Club and the Sandy Bay Rowing Club in Hobart. After making Australian representative squads she has rowed from the Australian National University Boat Club. She first made state selection for Tasmania in the 2017 women's youth eight which contested the Bicentennial Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. In 2019 she moved into the Tasmanian women's lightweight quad scull which contested and won the Victoria Cup at the Interstate Regatta. Rowing World Cup
The World Rowing Cup is an international rowing competition organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). It began in 1997 and comprises three regattas (apart from in 2001 when there were four) held throughout early summer. In each event points are awarded to the top seven finishing boats and an overall winner determined after the last world cup regatta each year. During the regattas the current leader in each event must wear yellow bibs. The World Rowing Cup has only been staged outside Europe on 3 occasions, in 2001 Princeton and in both 2013 and 2014 Sydney. Tulsa Golden Hurricane
The Golden Hurricane are the athletic teams that represent the University of Tulsa. These teams are referred to as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (or variously as TU or Tulsa). Before adopting the name Golden Hurricane in 1922, the University of Tulsa (TU) had many unofficial team nicknames including Kendallites (from TU's predecessor institution Henry Kendall College), Presbyterians (from the university's founding by the Presbyterian Church), Tulsans, Tigers, Orange and Black, and Yellow Jackets. The name "Golden Tornadoes" was chosen by TU football coach H.M. Archer (1922–24) based on new gold and black uniforms (rather than the previous orange and black) and a remark made during practice of the team "roaring through opponents" (during a season when TU went undefeated, including wins over Texas A&M and the University of Arkansas). IRA Championships
The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) governs intercollegiate rowing between varsity men's heavyweight, men's lightweight, and women's lightweight rowing programs across the United States, while the NCAA fulfills this role for women's open weight rowing. It is the direct successor to the Rowing Association of American Colleges, the first collegiate athletic organization in the United States, which operated from 1870–1894. The IRA was founded by Cornell, Columbia, and Penn in 1894 and its first annual regatta was hosted on June 24, 1895. Today Navy and Syracuse are also part of the association. Each year these five schools choose whom to invite to the IRA National Championship Regatta and are responsible for its organization.
