Anneka Reardon
Anneka Reardon (born 4 September 1997) is an Australian representative lightweight rower. She is a five time Australian national champion and has represented at senior World Championships. Club and state rowing Reardon was raised in Tasmania and first coached in sculling by her father Mick. Her senior club rowing was from the Lindisfarne Rowing Club and the Sandy Bay Rowing Club in Hobart. After making Australian representative squads she has rowed from the Australian National University Boat Club. She first made state selection for Tasmania in the 2017 women's youth eight which contested the Bicentennial Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. In 2019 she moved into the Tasmanian women's lightweight quad scull which contested and won the Victoria Cup at the Interstate Regatta. Australian National University Boat Club
The Australian National University Boat Club is the rowing club of Australian National University and is based in Canberra, Australia, on the lower reaches of Sullivan's Creek, two hundred metres from the Lake Burley Griffin. Founded in 1964, the ANU Boat Club is Canberra's oldest rowing club. The present club boathouse has been located on the banks of Sullivan's creek since 1971. History The Australian National University Rowing Club was established in 1964 and is the oldest continuing rowing club in the Australian Capital Territory. The Boat House The present day boathouse was constructed in 1971 for the university's Sports Union, replacing a temporary corrugated iron shed used to house the racing shells of the ANU Boat Club. Rowing (sport)
Rowing, sometimes called crew in the United States, is the sport of racing boats using oars. It differs from paddling sports in that rowing oars are attached to the boat using oarlocks, while paddles are not connected to the boat. Rowing is divided into two disciplines: sculling and sweep rowing. In sculling, each rower holds two oars—one in each hand, while in sweep rowing each rower holds one oar with both hands. There are several boat classes in which athletes may compete, ranging from single sculls, occupied by one person, to shells with eight rowers and a coxswain, called eights. There are a wide variety of course types and formats of racing, but most elite and championship level racing is conducted on calm water courses long with several lanes marked using buoys. Lucy Coleman
Lucy Coleman (born 29 March 1998) is an Australian representative lightweight rower. She is an Australian national champion and has represented at senior World Championships. Club and state rowing Coleman was raised in far western NSW and boarded at St Hilda's School in Southport where she took up rowing. She first made state selection for Queensland in the 2017 women's youth eight which contested the Bicentennial Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. Coleman then studied at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma and rowed at varsity level. She won a silver medal in a lightweight women's double scull at the US IRA Championships in 2018. Following her return from the USA she rowed from the Sydney University Boat Club. In 2021 in SUBC colours she won the open lightweight women's quad scull title at the Australian Rowing Championships and placed second in the open lightweight double scull. Rowing World Cup
The World Rowing Cup is an international rowing competition organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). It began in 1997 and comprises three regattas (apart from in 2001 when there were four) held throughout early summer. In each event points are awarded to the top seven finishing boats and an overall winner determined after the last world cup regatta each year. During the regattas the current leader in each event must wear yellow bibs. The World Rowing Cup has only been staged outside Europe on 3 occasions, in 2001 Princeton and in both 2013 and 2014 Sydney.
