Lucan Irish
The Lucan Irish are a Junior ice hockey team based in Lucan Biddulph, Ontario. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The Irish were founded in 1968 as the Lucan Irish Six, named after the Black Donnellys. In 1982, the Irish won the Western Ontario Junior D Hockey League's championship. They went on to defeat the Langton Thunderbirds of the Southern Counties Junior D Hockey League 4-games-to-1 to win the OHA Cup as provincial champions. In 1987, the Irish again won the Western Junior D's playoff title. They defeated the Tavistock Braves of the Southern Counties Junior D league 4-games-to-3 to win the OHA Cup for the second time as provincial champions. In 1988, all remaining Junior D leagues were consolidated into the Western Junior league. In 1991, the league dropped the Junior D label and became the OHA Junior Development League. Provincial Junior Hockey League
The Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) is a Canadian junior ice hockey league spanning parts of Southern Ontario. The PJHL is the third tier of the Ontario Hockey Association and is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation and Hockey Canada. The league was formed in 2016 with the merging of eight Junior C leagues. PJHL teams compete for the Clarence Schmalz Cup. History In the works since 2014, it was announced in the spring of 2016 that the eight Junior C leagues of the Ontario Hockey Association would merge for the 2016-17 season to create the Provincial Junior Hockey League. The union was in an effort to streamline rules across the classification and to promote growth and development. Thamesford Trojans
The Thamesford Trojans are a Junior ice hockey team based in Thamesford, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. They currently own the Exeter Hawks. History The Thamesford Trojans were founded in 1976 as members of the Western Ontario Junior D Hockey League. In 1988, the league absorbed its competitor leagues and create a large "super league" that was renamed the OHA Junior Development League in 1991. The Trojans from the 1989–90 until the 1991–92 season won three straight OHA Cups, the provincial championship. In 1990, the Trojans fought all the way to the league finals. In the finals they met the Lucan Irish. After a hard-fought battle, the Trojans came out on top to win the series 4-games-to-2 and win their first ever OHA Cup. Matthew Zachary Jarrett Read (born June 14, 1986) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL). He previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Philadelphia Flyers, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2011, and the Minnesota Wild. Playing career Minor Read started playing hockey on Vancouver Island playing for the Kerry Park Islanders. At the age of ten, he moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and played for Pikes Peak Minor Hockey for four years. He then moved to Ilderton, Ontario, and played for the Ilderton Jets of the OMHA's Shamrock League. The Mount Brydges Bulldogs are a Junior ice hockey team based in Mount Brydges, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League and are three-time provincial champions. History The Mount Brydges Bulldogs were founded in 1975 as members of the Western Junior D Hockey League. The 1983–84 season saw the Bulldogs pull off a 22–7–5 record, which led them on to win their first Western league championship, despite competition from the Exeter Hawks who only suffered a total of two losses during the regular season. The Dorchester Dolphins are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Dorchester, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Dolphins are the namesake of the town's long running tradition in intermediate and senior hockey. The Dolphins played their first ever hockey game on September 14, 2012, at home against the Lucan Irish. The Dolphins were victorious, 6–5. The Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League (SOJHL) is a former Canadian Junior ice hockey league sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association based out of Southwestern Ontario. Prior to the 2012-13 season, the SOJHL was promoted to the Junior C level. In the summer of 2016, the SOJHL was merged into the Provincial Junior Hockey League. The Delhi Travellers are a junior hockey team based in Delhi, Ontario, Canada. The Travellers play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History Prior to 1966, the Delhi franchise was a member of the Shamrock Junior D Hockey League. In 1966, they jumped to the Southern Counties Junior D Hockey League. In 1972, the team changed their name from the Rockets to the Flames. The 1980-81 season saw the Flames raise to the heights of provincial recognition. Exeter Hawks
The Exeter Hawks are a Junior ice hockey team based in Exeter, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The Exeter Hawks were founded in 1961 as members of the Shamrock Junior D Hockey League. In the late sixties, the Hawks jumped to the Bluewater Junior Hockey League for a short stint. The Wellesley Apple Jacks are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Wellesley, Ontario. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The Wellesley Apple Jacks joined the Western Junior D Hockey League in 1987. A year later, the Western League absorbed the Southern Junior D Hockey League.
