Low Cost Green Car (Indonesia)
Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) ( id, Kendaraan Bermotor Roda Empat Hemat Energi dan Harga Terjangkau (KBH2), , Energy Efficient and Affordable Automobiles) is an Indonesian automobile regulation which exempts low-cost and energy-efficient cars from luxury sales tax to ensure the affordability, provided they are assembled locally with a minimum amount of local components. The introduction of LCGC in Indonesia was meant to encourage the motorcycle owners/public transportation users to be able to afford their first cars, to reduce fuel subsidy and to compete with Thailand-imported cars, thus creating more jobs locally. In some aspects, the regulation is similar to the Japanese kei car category and Thai Eco Car program which also reduce taxes for small and efficient cars. Daihatsu Sigra
The Daihatsu Sigra is a car designed by Daihatsu and manufactured by Astra Daihatsu Motor in Indonesia since 2016 to be sold exclusively in the country. It is a mini MPV with standard three-row seating. Developed by Daihatsu chief engineer Nobuhiko Ono, it is built on lengthened Ayla's platform and positioned below the Xenia as a more affordable MPV option for the Indonesian market, where three-row MPVs have high demand in the country. It is also rebadged and sold by Toyota as the Toyota Calya with a differentiated front fascia. The cars were built to meet the " Low Cost Green Car" regulation by the Indonesian government that abolished luxury goods tax for economical cars. The Sigra was previewed by UFC, UFC2 and UFC 3 concept cars that was shown in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively. In Indonesia, the rural car ( id, mobil pedesaan) or the village car (''mobil desa'') is a grouping of cars that appeared after the second reshuffle of the Joko Widodo's cabinet in July 2016. The reshuffle replaced the Minister of Industry to Airlangga Hartarto. President Jokowi gave the mandate to develop the Small Medium Industry (SMI) project and rural cars. This program was initiated by the Ministry of Industry together with the Indonesian Automotive Institute (IOI). The fixed price for a rural car is around Rp60–80 million, cheaper than ''Kendaraan Bermotor Roda Empat Hemat Energi dan Harga Terjangkau'' (also called KBH2 or LCGC). The Daihatsu Ayla is a city car designed by Daihatsu and manufactured by Astra Daihatsu Motor in Indonesia, primarily developed for emerging markets.
