Love From Judy
''Love from Judy'' is a musical with music by Hugh Martin, lyrics by Martin and Jack Gray, and a book by Eric Maschwitz and Jean Webster. It is based on Webster's novel and play '' Daddy-Long-Legs''. The original production opened in Coventry in 1951 and then moved to the Saville Theatre on the West End and opened on September 25, 1952. The production was also televised in 1953. Hugh Martin
Hugh Martin (August 11, 1914 – March 11, 2011) was an American musical theater and film composer, arranger, vocal coach, and playwright. He was best known for his score for the 1944 MGM musical ''Meet Me in St. Louis'', in which Judy Garland sang three Martin songs, "The Boy Next Door (song), The Boy Next Door," "The Trolley Song," and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The last of these has become a Christmas season standard in the United States and around the English-speaking world. Martin became a close friend of Garland and was her accompanist at many of her concert performances in the 1950s, including her appearances at the Palace Theater (Broadway), Palace Theater. Moiya Kelly
Moiya Ann Kelly (28 May 1934 – 3 January 2023) was a British actress during the 1950s who is probably best known for playing Martha Cratchit in the film '' Scrooge'' (1951) starring Alistair Sim. Early life and career Moiya Kelly was born in Finsbury, London on 28 May 1934, a daughter of Williamina Stuart (''née'' Duff) (1904–1979) and Robert Kelly (born 1904), a salesman. Just short of her third birthday in 1937 she danced a duet on stage at the Hippodrome Theatre in Norwich, appearing there again in 1940 and 1941. An accomplished dancer by the age of 13, Kelly was invited to audition for the Royal Ballet School. They, while recognising her talent, informed her that she would not grow tall enough for a professional career in ballet. Thane William Howard Hardcastle Christopher Bettany (28 May 1929 – 7 November 2015) was an English actor and dancer. He was the father of film and theatre actor Paul Bettany. Johnny Brandon
Johnny Brandon (16 July 1925 – 26 July 2017) was an English singer and songwriter, popular during the 1950s, who recorded for a number of labels. His perennial backing group was known as The Phantoms. His early hits included "Tomorrow" and "Don't Worry". He also recorded versions of "Slow Poke" (re-titled as "Slow Coach") and "Painting the Clouds with Sunshine". Brandon later composed several Off-Broadway musicals, including '' Cindy'' (1964) and '' Billy Noname'' (1970). In 1979, he was jointly nominated for a Tony Award for Best Original Score for his work on ''Eubie!''. Brandon is also known for his involvement in the musicals ''Ain't Doin' Nothin' But Singin' My Song'' (1982) and ''Oh, Diahne!'' (1997). June Whitfield
Dame June Rosemary Whitfield (11 November 1925 – 29 December 2018) was an English radio, television, and film actress. Her big break was a lead in the radio comedy ''Take It from Here'', which aired on the BBC Light Programme in 1953.
