Louk Sorensen
Louk Sorensen (born 7 January 1985) is an Irish former professional tennis player. Sorensen was the first player representing Ireland to win a Grand Slam event main draw match in the Open Era. His father, Sean, was the first Irishman to play a Grand Slam main draw match in the Open Era, going out in the first round of Wimbledon. ( Matt Doyle reached the fourth round of the US Open in 1982 but played under the American flag then, only becoming an Irish citizen in 1985). His final event was the 2015 Aegon GB Pro-Series Glasgow where he lost in qualifying. Since retiring from playing, Sorensen has begun coaching and currently coaches Australian player John Millman. Personal life Sorensen's father Sean is the current captain of the Ireland Davis Cup team and played in the first round of Wimbledon in 1977, losing to Rod Laver. The Ireland Davis Cup team represents the whole of the island of Ireland in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by Tennis Ireland. Ireland competed in its first Davis Cup in 1923. Scandinavian Family Name Etymology
Heritable family names were generally adopted rather late within Scandinavia. Nobility were the first to take names that would be passed on from one generation to the next. Later, clergy, artisans and merchants in cities took heritable names. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuits – the ATP Tour, the ATP Challenger Tour and the ATP Champions Tour. It was formed in September 1972 by Donald Dell, Jack Kramer, and Cliff Drysdale to protect the interests of professional tennis players, and Drysdale became the first President. Alexander Waske
Alexander Waske (born 31 March 1975) is a retired tennis player from Germany. Waske was ranked as high as world No. 16 in doubles, winning four titles. He achieved his career-high singles ranking of world No. 89 in June 2006. In 2010, Waske and his former Davis Cup companion Rainer Schüttler founded the Schüttler Waske Tennis-University, a tennis academy for professional players. Waske twice beat players in the final qualifying rounds of tournaments who later got into the main draw as lucky losers and caused big historical upsets. Andreas Beck (; born 5 February 1986) is a retired German professional male tennis player. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 33 in November 2009. As a qualifier, Beck reached the quarterfinals of the 2009 Monte Carlo Masters. Carsten Arriens (born 11 April 1969) is a former professional tennis player from Germany. Career Arriens played his first tournament on the ATP Tour in 1991, at the Geneva Open, where he upset world number 33 Omar Camporese. In 1992 he won the Guarujá Open, as a qualifier. Kevin Sorensen (born 10 May 1981) is an Irish former professional tennis player. Born and raised in Germany, Sorensen was an Irish passport holder through his father Sean Sorensen, a former tour player. His mother Helga is German. He chose to represent Ireland and in 2004 became the Irish No.1. From 2004 and 2007 he was a member of Ireland's Davis Cup team, which also included his younger brother Louk and was captained by their father.
