Louay Almokdad ( ar, لؤي المقداد; born 20 December 1982) is a Syrian-British politician and businessman. He was born in 1982 in Damascus, Syria. Education He studied in Damascus until high school, and graduated from the American University in Cyprus with a major in Political Science. Lu'ay al-Atassi ( ar, لؤي الأتاسي, Luʾay al-ʾAtāsī; 1926 − 24 November 2003) was a senior commander in the Syrian Army and later the President of Syria between 9 March and 27 July 1963. Early life and career Atassi was born in Homs in 1926 to the politically prominent al-Atassi clan. He entered the officer corps after graduating from the Homs Military Academy in the mid-1940s, and fought during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War in Palestine. In 1954, President Hashim al-Atassi appointed him Chief of Military Protocol. He was transferred to Egypt, where he served as the assistant military attache in Cairo's Syrian embassy in 1956. There, he became a supporter of Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser and his pan-Arabist policies. Louay Chanko ( ar, لؤي شنكو; born 29 November 1979) is a professional football coach and former player. Born in Sweden, Chanko represented Sweden internationally as a midfielder, before switching allegiance to Syria. After his playing career, Chanko has worked as a coach. Louay Kayyali
Louay Kayali ( ar, لؤي كيالي), (20 January 1934 – 26 January 1978) was a Syrian modern artist. Biography Kayali was born in Aleppo, Syria in 1934 and studied art in the Accademia di Belle Arti after having studied at the Al-Tajhiz School where his work was first exhibited in 1952. He met Syrian artist Wahbi al-Hariri there and the two would share a friendship for the rest of Kayali's life. Al-Hariri would become his mentor as he was for artist Fateh Moudarres that Hariri introduced to Kayali in 1955. Moudarress and Kayali would together represent Syrian modern art at the Venice Biennial Fair. He suffered from depression and died in 1978 from burns incurred from his bed catching fire, reportedly from a cigarette. Luay Salah Hassan ( ar, لؤي صلاح حسن , born February 7, 1982 in Baghdad, Iraq) is an Iraqi former football player. He played for Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, Al-Zawraa, Persepolis and Erbil. Loai Mohammad Haj Bakr al-Saqa ( ar, لؤي محمد حج بكر الصقا) is a Syrian member of al-Qaeda, convicted of masterminding and financing the 2003 Istanbul bombings. In February 2007, he was sentenced to 67 life sentences by the Turkish courts. He was arrested in August 2005, while allegedly planning a bomb attack against an Israeli cruise ship. He was accused of supplying Turkish militants $170,000 to perform the bombing. Unlike some of the six Turkish men also given life sentences for the attacks, al-Saqa maintained his innocence throughout the trial. He ended his career as a player at Al-Wahda in 2002 and became one of the assistant coaches there. Ka'b ibn Lu'ayy ( ar, كَعْب ٱبْن لُؤَيّ) is an ancestor of the Islamic prophet Muhammad in Arabic tradition. Ancestry Ka'b Lu'ayy was born in c. 305, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia to Lu'ayy ibn Ghalib and Ma'wiya bint Ka`b ibn al-Qayn ibn Jasr ibn Shay' Allah ibn Asad ibn Wabara ibn Taghlib ibn Hulwan ibn Imran ibn al-Haf ibn Quda'a.
