Lotte Rysanek
Lotte Rysanek (18 March 1924 – 14 December 2016) was an Austrian operatic soprano. She was the sister of soprano Leonie Rysanek. Life Born in Vienna, Rysanek was taught by Rudolf Grossmann at the Konservatorium Wien. In 1950, she made her debut as Manon in Klagenfurt in Jules Massenet's eponymous opera. From 1955 to 1987, she sang at the Wiener Staatsoper. She was also known as an operetta and concert singer. She appeared at the Bayreuth Festival as the fifth flower girl in ''Parsifal'' in 1957 and at her sister's side in 1958 as Helmwige in ''Die Walküre''. Rysanek died in Vienna at the age of 92. Soprano
A soprano () is a type of classical female singing voice and has the highest vocal range of all voice types. Uwe Harten
Uwe Harten (born 16 August 1944) is a German musicologist, who works in Austria. Life Born in , Harten grew up in Hamburg, where he was a boy soprano at the Staatsoper. He took over the roles of a child. In Hamburg he also began his studies of musicology and art history, which he continued in Vienna with Erich Schenk. He gained his doctorate with his study of the Viennese Schumann admirer Carl Debrois van Bruyck. He then worked as a dramaturgical assistant at the Vienna Chamber Opera. Furthermore, he assisted Anthony van Hoboken in the production of his Werkverzeichnis of Joseph Haydn. Since 1972 he has been a member of the at the Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften. Since 1974 he has been secretary and member of the board of directors of the Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Österreich. In addition Harten worked as an assistant at the since its foundation in 1978. Kammersänger (male) or Kammersängerin (female), abbreviated Ks. or KS, is a German honorific title for distinguished singers of opera and classical music. It literally means "chamber singer". An ''Ehrengrab'' (English: 'grave of honor') is a distinction granted by certain German, Swiss and Austrian cities to some of their citizens for extraordinary services or achievements in their lifetimes. If there are no descendants or institutions to care for the gravesites, the communities or cities will take responsibility for the graves and for financing their care. Many ''Ehrengräber'' (honor graves) also serve to document cultural history; for example, when a cemetery containing artistically notable graves is closed and the graves are moved at public expense. Leonie Rysanek
Leopoldine Rysanek (14 November 1926 – 7 March 1998) was an Austrian dramatic soprano. Life Rysanek was born in Vienna and made her operatic debut in 1949 in Innsbruck. In 1951 the Bayreuth Festival reopened and the new leader Wieland Wagner asked her to sing Sieglinde in ''Die Walküre''. He was convinced that her unique, young and beautiful voice, combined with her rare acting abilities, would create a sensation. She became a star overnight, and the role of Sieglinde followed her for the rest of her career. Her final performance was at the Salzburg Festival in August 1996, as Klytämnestra in '' Elektra'' by Richard Strauss. Her Metropolitan Opera debut came in 1959 as Lady Macbeth in Verdi's '' Macbeth'', replacing Maria Callas who had been "fired" from the production. Over her lengthy career, she sang 299 performances of 24 roles there.
