Los Lunas High School
Los Lunas High School is a public high school in Los Lunas, New Mexico. History Los Lunas High School was founded in 1926 as Solomon Luna High School. It was named for Solomon Luna, the most prominent political and financial leader of the area at the time. The school was created to ease travel to Belen High School in southern Valencia County. Solomon Luna High School was consolidated into the Los Lunas Public Schools in 1945 and later renamed to "Los Lunas High School." The main building of old Soloman Luna High School still stands, and currently serves as the administration offices of the Los Lunas School District. An engraving above that building's main doors continues to read "Soloman Luna High School." Los Lunas High School's rival within its school district rival is Valencia High School. Shawn Brooks Kiehne (born July 3, 1976) is an American New Mexico musician from Los Lunas, New Mexico, he is best known by his Norteño (music), Norteño stagename El Gringo, he also performs country music under the name Shawn Brooks. Kiehne, who is of German heritage, was born in Los Lunas and graduated from Los Lunas High School. Kiehne learned Spanish working at his family's ranch in the El Paso, Texas area. In 2003 he began writing songs in the language. In 2005 he won second place in ''Sábado Gigante#Talent Competitions, El Gigante de Mañana'' and his first album, ''Algo Secuedió'', was released later the same year. Brian Baca
Brian Baca is an American politician and educator serving as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 8th district. He was appointed to the House by the Valencia County Board of Commissioners on January 13, 2022, succeeding Alonzo Baldonado. Early life and education A native of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Baca attended Los Lunas High School. Chuck Aragon
Chuck Aragon (born March 29, 1959) is an American former middle-distance runner who specialized in the 1500 meters and the mile. After a successful collegiate career during which he became the first Notre Dame runner to break the four-minute mile barrier, he went on to run at an international level throughout the 1980s. He placed third overall in the men's 1500 meters at the 1983 Pan American Games. Aragon also represented the United States at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics, where he also ran in the men's 1500 meters. The Pit (arena)
The Pit is an indoor arena in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving primarily as the home venue of the University of New Mexico Lobos basketball teams. The facility opened in 1966 as University Arena but gained the nickname "The Pit" due to its innovative subterranean design, with its playing floor below street level. The arena is located on the UNM South Campus and has a seating capacity of 15,411 for basketball and up to 13,480 for concerts, with 40 luxury suites and 365 club seats.
