Brian Baca
Brian Baca is an American politician and educator serving as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 8th district. He was appointed to the House by the Valencia County Board of Commissioners on January 13, 2022, succeeding Alonzo Baldonado. Early life and education A native of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Baca attended Los Lunas High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and Master of Arts in educational leadership from the University of New Mexico. Career From 1994 to 2001, Baca worked as a teacher at White Mountain Intermediate School in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He taught in the gifted and talented program at Daniel Fernandez Intermediate School from 2001 to 2005. In 2005 and 2006, he was assistant principal of Manzano Vista Middle School. Los Lunas, New Mexico
Los Lunas is a village in Valencia County, New Mexico, United States. As of the 2010 census, the village population is 14,835 inside the village limits due to the new housing developments at El Cerro de Los Lunas (Huning Ranch). It is the county seat of Valencia County. Los Lunas is part of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Los Lunas" is a partial Anglicization of the name of the Luna family, who originally settled in the area (''los Luna'', in Spanish). History The original land grant was made to Don Adrian Luna Candelaria in 1716, but within two years it was given to the Luna family. Some Civil War battles were fought near the village. Los Lunas High School is a public high school in Los Lunas, New Mexico. History Los Lunas High School was founded in 1926 as Solomon Luna High School. It was named for Solomon Luna, the most prominent political and financial leader of the area at the time. The school was created to ease travel to Belen High School in southern Valencia County. Solomon Luna High School was consolidated into the Los Lunas Public Schools in 1945 and later renamed to "Los Lunas High School." The main building of old Soloman Luna High School still stands, and currently serves as the administration offices of the Los Lunas School District.
