Lorne Scott
Reginald Lorne Scott, C.M. (2009) (b. May 19, 1947) is a Canadian environmentalist and former political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. From 1991 to 1995 he represented the seat of Indian Head-Wolseley and from 1995 to 1999 he represented Indian Head-Milestone in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a New Democratic Party (NDP) member. Biography Lorne Scott was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, the son of Reginald and Gertie Scott. Scott worked for the Saskatchewan Museum of Natural History from 1967 to 1975 and for the Wascana Centre Authority, where he worked as a park naturalist from 1975 to 1991. He also operates a farm in the Indian Head area. Scott served as president of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, the Saskatchewan Natural History Society and the Whooping Crane Conservation Association. Qu'Appelle-Wolseley is a former provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. This district was created before the 8th Saskatchewan general election in 1934 by combining the constituencies of South Qu'Appelle and Wolseley. Redrawn and renamed "Indian Head-Wolseley" in 1975, the riding was dissolved before the 23rd Saskatchewan general election in 1995. Indian Head-Milestone
Indian Head-Milestone is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in southern Saskatchewan, this riding was created through the ''Representation Act, 1994'' (Saskatchewan) by combining the riding of Indian Head-Wolseley with part of the riding of Bengough-Milestone. With the final report of the 2022 boundary commission, the riding will be eliminated at the next general election, with the bulk of its population going to the new riding of White City-Qu'appelle. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. Saskatchewan New Democratic Party
The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party. History Precursors The origins of the party began as early as 1902. In that year a group of farmers created the Territorial Grain Growers' Association. The objective of this group was to lobby for farmer's rights with the grain trade and the railways. Indian Head is a town in southeast Saskatchewan, Canada, east of Regina, Saskatchewan, Regina on the Trans-Canada Highway. It "had its beginnings in 1882 as the first settlers, mainly of Scottish origin, pushed into the area in advance of the railroad, most traveling by ox-cart from Brandon, Manitoba, Brandon." The Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) is a Canadian natural history museum in Regina, Saskatchewan. Don McMorris
Don McMorris (born July 12, 1961) is a Canadian provincial politician, in the province of Saskatchewan. He is the Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Indian Head-Milestone, a position he has held since the 1999 provincial election when he was elected as a member of the Saskatchewan Party. A former Minister of Health, he was the Deputy Premier and Minister of Crown Investments in the Saskatchewan provincial government.
