Lorentzen Family
:''Lorentzen is a common surname in Denmark and Norway. This article refers to the family related to the Norwegian royal family.'' Lorentzen or Bie-Lorentzen is a Norwegian family of Danish origin. Several members have been noted as shipping magnates and industrialists. Among its members are shipowner Erik Finn Lorentzen and industrialist Erling Lorentzen, who was married to Princess Ragnhild of Norway (known as Princess Ragnhild, Mrs. Lorentzen after her marriage), the eldest daughter of King Olav V of Norway. The family is descended from Hans Zachariassen (died ca. 1643), who was a merchant in Skælskør in Denmark. His son, customs official Hans Hanssøn Skielschøer (1636–1700), settled in Norway, and was the father of merchant in Holmestrand Lorentz Hanssøn (1668–1723). Erling Lorentzen
Erling Sven Lorentzen (28 January 1923 – 9 March 2021) was a Norwegian-Brazilian shipowner and industrialist. He founded Aracruz Celulose in 1968. He was the widower of Princess Ragnhild, the eldest child of King Olav V of Norway. In addition to being a Norwegian princess, his wife was in the line of succession to the British throne and occupied the 18th place at the time of her birth. Erling Lorentzen was a member of the Lorentzen family of shipping magnates. Life and career Lorentzen was born in Oslo as the son of Øivind Lorentzen (1882–1980) and Ragna (née Nilsen; 1885–1976). He worked for the Norwegian Independent Company 1, a British military unit, during World War II. He owned 28% of Aracruz Celulose, which he sold for approximately US$1.7 billion in July 2008. Olav V Of Norway
Olav V (; born Prince Alexander of Denmark; 2 July 1903 – 17 January 1991) was the King of Norway from 1957 until his death in 1991. Olav was the only child of King Haakon VII of Norway and Maud of Wales. He became heir apparent to the Norwegian throne when his father was elected King of Norway in 1905. He was the first heir to the Norwegian throne to be brought up in Norway since Olav IV in the fourteenth century, and his parents made sure he was given as Norwegian an upbringing as possible. Skælskør
Skælskør () is a town in Zealand, Denmark. It is located in Slagelse Municipality. Until 2007 Skælskør was the seat of Skælskør Municipality. The town is located 17 km southwest of Slagelse and 12 km southeast of Korsør. Skælskør is home to one of Denmark's largest breweries, the Harboe Brewery. Holmestrand
is a town and municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Holmestrand. The town was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The neighboring rural municipality of Botne was merged into the municipality of Holmestrand on 1 January 1964. Sande municipality merged into Holmestrand on January 1, 2020. The municipality of Hof was merged into Holmestrand on January 1, 2018. The town lies by the Oslofjord and is built beside the water. It was granted municipal status in 1752, but had been a harbour for exporting of timber/lumber since around 1550. Øivind Lorentzen
Øivind Sven Lorentzen (14 October 1882 – 9 May 1980) was a Norwegian shipping magnate. Pre-war life and career He was born in Holmestrand as a son of ship-owner Hans Ludvig Lorentzen (1839–1904) and Thala Margrethe Bredrup (1847–1941). His family lived in Argentina and Brazil between 1890 and 1895. Lorentzen examen artium, finished his secondary education in 1901, and studied shipbuilding at Berlin Institute of Technology from 1901 to 1906. In April 1908 he married Ragna Nilsen (1885–1976), a daughter of Peder Nilsen. In 1923 they had 5 sons and one daughter: Hans Ludvig Ph.D.; Per Arne; Ingjerd Ragna; Oivind Harald; Erik Finn; and Erling Lorentzen, who went on to marry Princess Ragnhild of Norway, and had the children Haakon, Ingeborg and Ragnhild Lorentzen. Aracruz Celulose S.A. was a Brazilian manufacturer of pulp and paper. In 2009 it merged with VCP and was renamed Fibria. The new company maintained its headquarters in Sao Paulo, and is a supplier of bleached eucalyptus pulp. Its current presidents are members of the Hungarian Ersching family. The company has two pulp making plants, one in Aracruz city in EspÃrito Santo state and the other at GuaÃba in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Henriette Bie Lorentzen (18 July 1911 – 23 August 2001), born Anna Henriette Wegner Haagaas, was a Norwegian journalist, humanist, peace activist, feminist, co-founder of the Nansen Academy, resistance member and concentration camp survivor during World War II, and publisher and editor-in-chief of the women's magazine ''Kvinnen og Tiden'' (1945–1955).
