Long Lake (Lanark County)
Long Lake is a lake in eastern Ontario, Canada in the municipality of Tay Valley in Lanark County. The lake is nearly 3 km long and about 600m wide at its widest. Long Lake is fed by a number of small tributaries leading to intermittent lakes. It is drained by an unnamed creek leading to Adams Lake. Long Lake has five islands, the largest and only named one, being Farry Island. It is located in the east end of the lake and is uninhabited. It is about 400m long and 200m wide. It is a fairly steep island, rising about 20m above the level of the lake, its highest point being over 150m above sea level. The lake has a number of cottages lining the northern and southeastern shores. The nearest community is Stanleyville, 5 km west of the lake. Eastern Ontario (census population 1,763,186 in 2016) (french: Est de l'Ontario) is a secondary region of Southern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario which lies in a wedge-shaped area between the Ottawa River and St. Lawrence River. Adams Lake (Lanark County)
Adams Lake is a large, deep, coldwater lake in British Columbia, Canada; its average depth ranks 6th in the world. The southern end of the lake is approximately north of the town of Chase in the Shuswap Country region of British Columbia. The lake's upper reaches lie in the northern Monashee Mountains, while its lower end penetrates the Shuswap Highland. The lake supports Chinook, Sockeye and Coho salmon, Kokanee, mountain whitefish and rainbow trout. Geography The lake is long and between and wide. The surface elevation is above sea level. The lake is very deep; with a mean depth of and maximum depth of it is the second deepest lake in British Columbia (next to Quesnel Lake, which has a maximum depth of ) and 6th deepest lake in the world by mean depth. Tay Valley
Tay Valley is a township in eastern Ontario, Canada, on the Tay River in the southwest corner of Lanark County, adjacent to the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and Frontenac County. The township administrative offices are located in Glen Tay. Tay Valley township is distinct from the Township of Tay, 300 km to the west. History The township was incorporated on January 1, 1998 by amalgamating the former townships of Bathurst, South Sherbrooke and North Burgess, which date back to the early 19th century. It was originally known as the township of Bathurst Burgess Sherbrooke, but adopted the name of Tay Valley on July 30, 2002.
