Logi Boitha Movement
The Logi Boitha Movement ( bn, লগি-বৈঠা আন্দোলন, Logi Boitha Andolan, ) or Logi Boitha Rally was a political rally on 28 October 2006 in Dhaka convened by the contemporary opposition party Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina, in reaction to alleged decisions taken by the then caretaker government. It was part of the political crisis in Bangladesh during 2006-2008. Background The main demand of the assembly was not to appoint Khondokar Mahmud Hasan as Justice in the imminent caretaker government to conduct the general elections scheduled for January 2008. He was at one time the central leadership of the BNP. According to the then Awami League, the BNP amended the constitution to increase the retirement age of judges so that K M Hasan could be the chief adviser to the caretaker government. The ''Daily Naya Diganta'' ( bn, দৈনিক নয়া দিগন্ত ''Doinik Noya Digonto'') is a Bengali daily newspaper published in Bangladesh since 2004. Motiur Rahman Nizami
Motiur Rahman Nizami ( bn, মতিউর রহমান নিজামী, links=no; 31 March 1943 – 11 May 2016) was a politician, former Minister of Bangladesh, Islamic scholar, writer, and the former leader of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. He is noted for leading the terror squad Al-Badr during the Bangladesh Liberation War. On 29 October 2014, he was convicted of masterminding the Demra massacre by the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir (born 26 January 1948) is a Bangladeshi politician. He has been the secretary general of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) since 2016. He was a member of the parliament for Thakurgaon-1 constituency from 2001 to 2006. In that term, he was also appointed as the Minister of State in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and later Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Sadeque Hossain Khoka (12 May 1952 – 4 November 2019) was a Bangladeshi politician. He served as the 2nd mayor of Dhaka City Corporation during 2002 to 2011. He was the vice chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and was President of undivided Dhaka city BNP for longest period of the organisation's existence. Fakhruddin Ahmed (born 1 May 1940) is a Bangladeshi economist, civil servant, and a former governor of the Bangladesh Bank, the country's central bank. On 12 January 2007, he was appointed Chief Adviser (Head of the Government) of the non-party interim Caretaker government, during the 2006–2008 Bangladeshi political crisis. He continued in that post for nearly two years, a longer than usual time, but new elections were held on 29 December 2008, and the Awami League assumed power based on its majority.
