Logan Thunder (NBL1 North)
Logan Thunder is a NBL1 North club based in Logan, Queensland, Australia. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 North. The club is a division of Logan Basketball Inc., the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Thunder play their home games at Cornubia Park Sports Centre. Club history Logan Basketball Inc. was established in July 1998, and by the mid-2000s, senior representative teams were competing in the Southern Cross Cup. In 2006, the Thunder entered the Queensland Australian Basketball League (QABL), fielding both a men's and women's team. However, the club withdrew from the league following the 2008 season. In September 2014, plans were made to bring the club back to life. Following 2008, Logan Basketball Inc. were unable to fund a state-league program due to all resources being used by the Logan Thunder WNBL team. NBL1 North, formerly the Queensland Basketball League (QBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Queensland partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Queensland. NBL1 replaced the former QBL to create more professional pathways and opportunities for males and females playing basketball in Queensland. As a result, the QBL became the north conference of NBL1. Logan City is a local government area situated within the south of the Brisbane metropolitan area in South East Queensland, Australia. Mitchell Young
Mitchell Young (born 6 August 1990) is an Australian former professional basketball player who last played for the Cairns Taipans He played four years of college basketball for Saint Mary's College of California. Early life Young grew up playing for the Logan Thunder Junior Basketball Club before attending the Australian Institute of Sport, where he played for the program's SEABL team between 2007 and 2009. College career Young played college basketball at Saint Mary's alongside Matthew Dellavedova from 2009 to 2013. The 2015 Men's Queensland Basketball League season was the 30th running of the competition. The Mackay Meteors won the championship in 2015 to claim their third league title.
