Clearwater is a city in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 2,653. History Clearwater was first settled in 1870, then platted as a city in 1872. It was named from the clear water of the river upon which it is situated. Merle Ronald Haggard (April 6, 1937 – April 6, 2016) was an American country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, and fiddler. Haggard was born in Oildale, California, toward the end of the Great Depression. His childhood was troubled after the death of his father, and he was incarcerated several times in his youth. Stoney LaRue (born Stoney Larue Phillips in 1977) is an American Texas Country/ Red Dirt artist. Life and career Born in Taft, Texas, LaRue was raised in Yanush/Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma where he still visits regularly and began playing country music at a young age. LaRue moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, and began to play in the various bars around the college town, as well as his brother, Bo Phillips.
