Ancash Region
Ancash ( qu, Anqash; es, Áncash ) is a department and region in northern Peru. It is bordered by the departments of La Libertad on the north, Huánuco and Pasco on the east, Lima on the south, and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Its capital is the city of Huaraz, and its largest city and port is Chimbote. The name of the region originates from the Quechua word ('light, of little weight'), from ('blue') or from ('eagle'). Llama

Corongo Province
The Corongo Province is one of 20 provinces of the Ancash Region in Peru. Its capital is Corongo located at an altitude of 3,141 m (10,305 ft). Corongo is situated in a calm valley where the river of the same name runs. It is bordered by the following provinces: to the north and to the west by Pallasca, to the east by Sihuas and to the south by Huaylas and Santa. At the time of census 2005 the province had 7,786 inhabitants, distributed in the urban zone and mainly in the countryside.
