Ljubomir Travica
Ljubomir Travica ( sr-cyr, Љубомир Травица; born 1 October 1954) is a Serbian professional volleyball coach and former player. The current head coach of the Tunisian team, ES Tunis. His son Dragan Travica is a volleyball player, former member of the Italy men's national volleyball team. Biography Travica was born in Ervenik and started his career with Mladost Zagreb. In 1980, he participated with Yugoslavia at the 1980 Summer Olympics held in Moscow. He moved to Italy in 1983, and during his career, played for Panini Modena and Padova in Serie A1 (Italy's top division), and Vimercate and Brugherio in Serie A2. In 1991, he started his coaching career in Serie B1 in Valdagno, and subsequently coached different teams in the A1 and A2 divisions, before moving to Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece. Al Rayyan SC Volleyball Team
Al Rayyan Volleyball ( ar, الريان للكرة الطائرة) is a professional Volleyball team based in Al-Rayyan, Qatar. It competes in the Qatari Volleyball League. They participated in the 2012 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship held in Qatar after winning the Heir Apparent Cup. The club hired four top athletes to strengthen the team before the 2012 Club World Championships. These include Rodrigão from Brazil, the Bulgarian brothers Georgi and Valentin Bratoev, and the American David Lee, a Gold medalist in Beijing 2008. They did not advance past the group stage. The best achievement for the Al Rayyan volleyball team was in 2014 when they came in the second place in the World Club championship. Dragan Travica
Dragan Travica (born 28 August 1986) is an Italian volleyball player, former member of the Italy men's national volleyball team. On club level he plays for Olympiacos Piraeus, bronze medalist at the 2012 Olympic Games, silver medalist at the European Championship ( 2011, 2013), bronze medalist of the World League (2013, 2014) and Italian Champion (2012). Personal life He was born in Zagreb, Croatia, the son of Serbian volleyball player and coach Ljubomir Travica. His sister is the wife of another Italian volleyball player Cristian Savani. Career He started his career with Sisley Treviso's youth team and, after one year with Sira Cucine Falconara, he debuted in the Serie A1 (Italy's top division) in 2004 with Kerakoll Modena. Men's European Volleyball Championship
The Men's European Volleyball Championship (''EuroVolley'') is the official competition for senior men's national volleyball teams of Europe, organized by the European Volleyball Confederation ( CEV). The initial gap between championships was variable, but since 1975 they have been awarded every two years. The current champion is Italy, which won its seventh title at the 2021 tournament. History The first tournament was held in 1948 with participation of six national teams. Being only participant from Eastern Europe, Czechoslovakia captured gold. The teams from Eastern Europe dominated at the tournament for next four decades. The next two editions held in 1950 and 1951 were won by the Soviet Union (who also won two World Championships in 1949 and 1952). The FIVB Volleyball World League was an annual international men's volleyball competition. Created in 1990, it was the longest and richest of all the international events organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). The women's version of the competition was called FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix. The 2003 FIVB Men's World Cup was held from 16 to 29 November 2003 in Japan. Twelve men's national teams played in cities all over Japan for the right to a fast lane ticket into the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Teams were made up as follows: hosts Japan, continental champions and vice-champions from Europe, Asia, NORCECA and South America, continental champion from Africa plus two wild-card teams nominated jointly by FIVB and the Japan Volleyball Association. The FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup is an international volleyball competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. Initially the tournament was played in the year following the Olympic Games, except for 1973 when no tournament was held, but since 1991 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup, 1991 the World Cup has been awarded in the year preceding the Olympic Games. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court.
