Liège Basket
Liège Basket is a Belgian professional basketball club from Liège. The club competes in the BNXT League. Founded in 1967, the team plays at 5,600 seat Country Hall Ethias Liège. History The club was founded in Fléron as the Fléron Basket Club in 1967. After being an amateur league for its first years, the team hired its first professional coach in 1975. In 1977 and 1981, the Fléron promoted to the first regional league. In 1983, the club made its debut on the national level as it promoted to the Fourth National Division. In 2000, the club decided to merge with BC Hannut and Essor Hannut, relocating to the city of Liège. After the move to Lìege, the club quickly promoted to the First National League. In 2001, the club's debut in Europe was made after it qualified as 7th in the previous season. In the 2001–02 FIBA Korać Cup, the team lost to French side Racing Paris in the first round. BNXT League
The BNXT League, for sponsorship reasons the betFirst BNXT League, is a professional basketball league in Belgium and the Netherlands. The league is the first tier in both the Dutch and Belgian system, replacing the Dutch Basketball League, DBL and Pro Basketball League, PBL. The inaugural season was the 2021–22 BNXT League, 2021–22 season, which started in September 2021. The BNXT League plays national playoffs as well as a cross-border playoffs to determine a Dutch champion, Belgian champion and BNXT champion. History On 10 December 2020, it was announced that the Belgian Pro Basketball League and Dutch Basketball League would merge to form a new multinational league. Euphony Communications Ltd was a privately owned multi-level marketing company based in High Wycombe and then Reading, UK. It originally sold products and services in the communications market. The 2018–19 Pro Basketball League, for sponsorship reasons the EuroMillions Basketball League, season was the 92nd season of the Pro Basketball League (PBL), first tier of basketball in Belgium. The season started on 5 October 2018 and ended 13 June 2019. Filou Oostende captured its eight consecutive league title after defeating Antwerp Giants in the playoff finals. The 2017–18 Belgian Basketball Cup ( nl, 2017–18 Beker van België) was the 64th edition of the national cup competition for men's basketball in Belgium. The season started on 26 September 2017 and ended on 11 March 2018 with the final. Oostende won its sixth straight cup title. Format Teams from the Basketball League Belgium Division I, the Top Division 1 and Top Division 2 (the first three divisions in Belgian basketball) compete in the competition. In the first round teams from the Top Division I and 2 play in 12 groups. From the second round, teams from the BLB Division I enter the competition. In the second round, the quarter- and semi-finals a double legged format is used. When a Division I team faces off against a team from a lower league, no second leg is played. The 2013–14 Belgian Basketball Cup or The Base Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the 60th season of the annual cup tournament in Belgium. Telenet BC Oostende was the defending champion. The Final Four was held from 19 till 21 April in Paleis 12 in Brussels. It was the first time since 2003 the Belgian Basketbal Cup included a Final Four.
