2016–17 Belgian Basketball Cup
The 2016–17 Belgian Basketball Cup season, for sponsorship reasons bpost cup, was the 63rd edition of the national cup competition for men's basketball in Belgium. The final was played on 19 February 2017 between Limburg United and defending cup holders Oostende. Oostende won its 18th title and its fourth Cup in a row. Format Teams from the Basketball League Belgium Division I, the Top Division 1 and Top Division 2 (the first three divisions in Belgian basketball) compete in the competition. In the first round teams from the Top Division I and 2 play in 12 groups. From the second round, teams from the BLB Division I enter the competition. In the second round, the quarter- and semi-finals a double legged format is used. When a Division I team faces off against a team from a lower league, no second leg is played. Okapi Aalst is a Belgian professional basketball club from Aalst, Belgium. The club competes in the top tier BNXT League and plays its home games in the Okapi Forum, which has a seating capacity of 2,800 people. Forest National
Forest National ( French) or Vorst Nationaal (Dutch) is a multi-purpose arena located in the municipality of Forest in Brussels, Belgium. The arena can hold more than 8,000 people. It hosts indoor sporting events as well as concerts done by a wide variety of artists. The arena, which opened in 1970, offers between 2,500 and 8,000 seats, depending on the event and is a member of European Arenas Association (EAA). Known for its circular interior, it is owned by the Music Hall Group and operated by the Sportpaleis Groep. Khalid Boukichou (born 17 September 1992) is a Belgian-Moroccan basketball player for AS Salé of the Division Excellence. Boukichou usually plays as center. Born in Nador, he represents Belgium in international FIBA competitions. Professional career In 2008, Boukichou started his career with Atomia Brussels in the Belgian third division. After two seasons in Brussels, he left for Royal Anderlecht of the same division. Later in the 2010–11 season, he played for Chabab Rif Al Hoceima of the Moroccan Nationale 1 for a short period. Torrian Corey Walden ( sr-cyrl, Торијан Кори Волден; born August 5, 1992) is an American-born naturalized Serbian professional basketball player for Bayern Munich of the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and the EuroLeague. Seth Tuttle (born September 5, 1992) is an American former basketball player and current assistant coach for the Northern Iowa Panthers. He had an All-American college career at Northern Iowa (UNI). Tuttle was considered one of the top college players in the country, and was a midseason finalist for the Naismith College Player of the Year award.
