Living Sacrifice
Living Sacrifice is an American Christian metal band formed in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1989. The band has released eight studio albums, out of which the first three were recorded under R.E.X. Records with their original vocalist Darren Johnson as a more thrash metal and death metal oriented band. The band evolved into a groove metal and metalcore style beginning with ''Reborn'' (1997) under Solid State Records with the original guitarist Bruce Fitzhugh on vocals. In 2003, the group disbanded due to other projects and later their label, Solid State, released their best-of album, ''In Memoriam'' (2005). In 2008, Living Sacrifice reformed and released a two-song digital only single called ''Death Machine''. They then began working on ''The Infinite Order'' which was released on January 26, 2010. Nonexistent (album)
''Nonexistent'' is the sophomore album of the extreme metal band Living Sacrifice. The album was released through R.E.X. Records in 1992. The album was recorded quickly after the debut self-titled album in Nashville, Tennessee and produced by Doug Mann. The album is a notable change for the band, as the debut focused more on a thrash metal sound, while the follow up has a heavy emphasis on death metal, drawing more from artists such as Gorguts or Obituary. History The album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee a short time after the release of their self-titled debut album in 1991. The band began their recording with Doug Mann and engineer Martin Woodlee. The band originally hoped to have Scott Burns (Death, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse) produce the album, with interest on both sides as the self-titled was on his top albums of 1991. Bruce Fitzhugh
Bruce Fitzhugh is the second and best known lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and founding member of Arkansas's Christian metal band Living Sacrifice. The lead vocalist role was left to Bruce shortly after the departure of former lead Darren Johnson and prior to the recording of Living Sacrifice's 1997 album, ''Reborn''. Fitzhugh is featured in Zao's ''The Lesser Lights of Heaven'' DVD. Fitzhugh's nephew is Drew Garrison, Vocalist for Descended From Wolves and Becoming Saints. He has been involved in many other music endeavors such as producing The Showdown's debut album, ''A Chorus Of Obliteration''. He also produced albums for Zao, Further Seems Forever, Few Left Standing, and Eso-Charis. He is also a guest vocalist on Demon Hunter's album ''Storm the Gates of Hell'' on the song "Sixteen". Lance Garvin
Lance Garvin is an American musician and, along with Bruce Fitzhugh, DJ Johnson and Jason Truby, a founding member of the Christian metal band Living Sacrifice. Garvin is mostly known for using a Ride Cymbal in modern metal without making it sound thinner. Garvin is also the drummer of Christian metal band Soul Embraced and has played with the bands Throwdown and Zao as well. He formed the band Kill System, along with fellow Soul Embraced members, Chad Moore and Rocky Gray, and former Evanescence guitarist John LeCompt. When Living Sacrifice prepared to release their documentary, the release was delayed by COVID-19, with Garvin contracting the sickness. Following his recovery, the plan to work on new material was also delayed by Garvin breaking his leg. Reborn (Living Sacrifice Album)
''Reborn'' is the fourth album by the Christian metal band Living Sacrifice. The album was released in 1997, and later re-released and remastered in 2004. In 2020, the band announce a vinyl re-release of ''Reborn'', which sold out quickly. Critical reception ''Reborn'' saw a drastic separation from their previous style, dropping most of the death metal sound of ''Nonexistent'' and ''Inhabit'', in favor of more of a metalcore and hardcore punk sound. The album was well-received by the metalcore and hardcore scene, whereas the death metal scene predominantly disregarded it. The album is widely considered as Living Sacrifice's biggest album. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Scott Burns is an American computer engineer and a former music producer of death metal records from late 1980s and 1990s. He was crucial to the emergence of the Florida death metal scene. He has produced many records for many famous death metal bands, including Death, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Sepultura, Obituary, Atheist, Transmetal, Suffocation, and Cynic. He has engineered some of the top genre-defining death metal albums such as Death's ''Human'', Massacre's '' From Beyond'', Obituary's ''Slowly We Rot'', and Assück's '' Misery Index''. Slayer
Slayer was an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California. The band was formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, drummer Dave Lombardo and bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. Catamount Recording Studio is a professional music recording studio in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Tom Tatman, Rick Bisbey and Bill Barker established the studio as a rehearsal and recording space for their band, Headstone. In 1980 the studio opened to the public and has since worked with many national bands including American rock band Stone Sour. Tatman serves as the studio's producer and chief engineer. Catamount Recording Studio exclusively records musicians and albums.
