Scott Burns (record Producer)
Scott Burns is an American computer engineer and a former music producer of death metal records from late 1980s and 1990s. He was crucial to the emergence of the Florida death metal scene. He has produced many records for many famous death metal bands, including Death, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Sepultura, Obituary, Atheist, Transmetal, Suffocation, and Cynic. He has engineered some of the top genre-defining death metal albums such as Death's ''Human'', Massacre's '' From Beyond'', Obituary's ''Slowly We Rot'', and Assück's '' Misery Index''. Obituary is an American death metal band formed in Tampa, Florida in 1984. They were a fundamental act in the development of death metal music, and are one of the most successful death metal bands of all time. To date, Obituary has released ten studio albums, and with the exception of their 1997–2003 split, they continue to perform live around the world. Initially called Executioner, the band changed its name to Xecutioner in 1986 to avoid confusion with the thrash metal band Executioner from Boston, and then changed its name once again to Obituary in 1988. Obituary's current lineup consists of vocalist John Tardy, drummer Donald Tardy, rhythm guitarist Trevor Peres, bassist Terry Butler, and lead guitarist Ken Andrews. ''Eaten Back to Life'' is the debut studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse. It was released on August 17, 1990 through Metal Blade Records. The album was banned in Germany—censored versions of the album were not available, but the ban was revoked in 2006—and other countries because of the violent cover and the extreme nature of the lyrics. Glen Benton of Deicide and Francis H. Howard of Opprobrium (then known as Incubus) perform backup vocals on "Mangled" and "A Skull Full of Maggots". A statement can be found in the inlay of the album that reads: "This album is dedicated to the memory of Alferd Packer, the first American cannibal (R.I.P.)". Assück was an American grindcore band from Saint Petersburg, Florida, active from 1987 to 1998. History Assück was founded by vocalist Paul Pavlovich and guitarist Steve Heritage. ''Slowly We Rot'' is the debut album by American death metal band Obituary. It was released on June 14, 1989 and is the only Obituary album to feature bassist Daniel Tucker. Lead guitarist Allen West would leave soon after but returned for the third album '' The End Complete''. It was re-released on January 27, 1997 with remastered sound and liner notes. ''From Beyond'' is the debut studio album by American death metal band Massacre, released in 1991 on Earache Records. The album was re-released with a different cover (original is red) and the ''Inhuman Condition'' EP as bonus tracks. The album was recorded in March 1991 at Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida. "Corpsegrinder" was originally recorded by the band Death, of which all members of Massacre have been a part in the past. The album's title is based on H. P. Lovecraft's the short story of the same name, and the cover art was painted by Ed Repka. The band's vocalist, Kam Lee, hates the original pink album cover art done by Ed Repka and the changing of the band logo as he claims it "looks like the Superman logo." Massacre (briefly known as Massacre X and Gods of Death) is an American death metal band. They were formed in 1984 by Allen West, Bill Andrews, and Mike Borders, soon after vocalist Kam Lee joined. The band has reunited several times with varying line-ups, most recently in late 2016. ''Human'' is the fourth studio album by American death metal band Death, released on October 22, 1991, by Relativity Records. The album marked the beginning of a major stylistic change for Death, being more technically complex and progressive than the band's previous efforts. The lyrics are more introspective when compared to the gore-based lyrics of ''Scream Bloody Gore'' and ''Leprosy'' or the social commentary on ''Spiritual Healing''. Cynic (band)
Cynic is an American progressive metal band formed in Miami, Florida in 1987 and later re-formed in Los Angeles, California in 2007, where the sole surviving member, Paul Masvidal remains to this day. Cynic incorporates elements of progressive rock, alternative, and metal. Their first album, ''Focus'', was released in 1993. Cynic disbanded in 1994, but they reunited in 2006 and released their second album in 2008. ''Traced in Air'' was released through French label Season of Mist, followed up by an EP titled ''Re-Traced'' in 2010 and an EP titled Carbon-Based Anatomy in 2011.
