Liverpool Coach Station (also known as Norton Street Coach Station) was a major coach station in Liverpool, England which offered services to 122 destinations throughout the United Kingdom provided by National Express. It opened in November 1994 and was closed on 14 January 2016. History The coach station opened in November 1994 with access to 35 destinations. It celebrated its 20th anniversary on 20 November 2014 with passengers at the coach station treated to a glimpse of the National Express Leyland Leopard coach which ran the first coach service from the station in 1994. In December 2015 it was announced that the coach station would close with the last coach departing on 14 January 2016 with all services relocating to the Liverpool One bus station. Leyland Leopard
The Leyland Leopard was a mid-engined single-decker bus and single-decker coach chassis manufactured by Leyland between 1959 and 1982. History The Leyland Leopard was introduced in 1959. It was developed from the Leyland Tiger Cub, one of the most important changes being the introduction of the larger and more powerful O.600 engine (later-built Leopards were fitted with the 11.1-litre O.680 engine). The Leopard was superseded by the Leyland Tiger. Designation The original 30 ft bus version was coded L1, it was right hand drive with a 16 ft 2in wheelbase and an overall length of 29 ft 4in. The 30 ft coach was the L2 which had the same wheelbase but was an inch shorter overall, the left-hand-drive LHL1 shared the wheelbase but the overall length was 29 ft 2in. Formerly known as the Paradise Street interchange, it was situated on Paradise Street close to Lord Street with access from the nearby Liverpool One shopping centre. It was re-built in November 2005 as part of the Liverpool Paradise Street re-development, and rebranded in September 2009. On 15 January 2016 National Express relocated their coach services to Liverpool One Bus Station from the former Liverpool Coach Station on Norton Street. Leeds City bus station serves the city of Leeds, England. Owned and managed by West Yorkshire Metro, it is situated between the Quarry Hill and Leeds Kirkgate Markets areas of Leeds city centre. The National Express Dyer Street Coach Station adjoins the bus station. History The bus station was opened on 31 August 1938 as Leeds Central bus station. It was built at the same time and in the same style as the Quarry Hill flats. The original bus station was used as the back-drop for the opening credits of Yorkshire Television sitcom '' Queenie's Castle''.
