Leeds City Bus Station
Leeds City bus station serves the city of Leeds, England. Owned and managed by West Yorkshire Metro, it is situated between the Quarry Hill and Leeds Kirkgate Markets areas of Leeds city centre. The National Express Dyer Street Coach Station adjoins the bus station. History The bus station was opened on 31 August 1938 as Leeds Central bus station. It was built at the same time and in the same style as the Quarry Hill flats. The original bus station was used as the back-drop for the opening credits of Yorkshire Television sitcom '' Queenie's Castle''. The station was rebuilt reopening on 30 September 1963 with four curved platforms. In 1990, Vicar Lane bus station closed and West Yorkshire Road Car Company buses began using the main bus station. Leeds city centre is the central business district of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Queenie's Castle
''Queenie's Castle'' is a British sitcom set in early 1970s Leeds, West Yorkshire. The series was made for the ITV by Yorkshire Television and aired from 1970 to 1972. The series starred British actress Diana Dors. Plot Starring Diana Dors as the eponymous Queenie Shepherd, the series revolved around the lives and, often illegal, activities of the residents of a Social Housing Development in early 1970s Leeds, West Yorkshire. Leeds Bradford Airport
Leeds Bradford Airport is located in Yeadon, in the City of Leeds Metropolitan District in West Yorkshire, England, about northwest of Leeds city centre, and about northeast from Bradford city centre. It serves Leeds and Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region including York, Wakefield and Harrogate, and is the largest airport in Yorkshire. Flyer (bus Service)
Flyer is the current brand name of a trio of bus services that call at Leeds Bradford Airport in England. Numbered A1, A2 and A3, the routes serve a range of towns and cities in Yorkshire including Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate. History The route was formerly operated under the Centrebus brand as ''Airport Direct''. In May 2014, the routes were rebranded by Yorkshire Tiger as ''Flying Tiger'' and new Optare Versa buses were introduced. On 3 July 2017, new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC buses were introduced on route 737 and 747 alongside the previous Optare Versa vehicles which continued to operate mainly on service 757. DalesBus is a network of bus services, which operate in and around the Yorkshire Dales, England. The network is managed by Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company – a volunteer-run subsidiary of the Yorkshire Dales Society. The service started in 2011, as a replacement for the Leeds FreeCityBus service, which runs in other towns and cities in West Yorkshire. The service ran under contract to West Yorkshire Metro. FreeCityBus or FreeTownBus is a family of zero-fare bus services which are operated in the centres of several cities and towns in the England, English county of West Yorkshire. The services operate as ''FreeCityBus'' in the city of Wakefield and as ''FreeTownBus'' in the towns of Huddersfield and Dewsbury. The service is run under contract to West Yorkshire Metro.
