Men Without Hats
Men Without Hats are a Canadian New wave music, new wave and synth-pop band, originally from Montreal, Quebec. Their music is characterized by the baritone voice of their lead singer Ivan Doroschuk, as well as their elaborate use of synthesizers and electronic processing. They achieved their greatest popularity in the 1980s with "The Safety Dance", a worldwide top ten hit (No. 3 in the United States), and "Pop Goes the World (song), Pop Goes the World". After a hiatus for most of the 1990s and 2000s, Doroschuk reformed the band in 2010, and released ''Love in the Age of War'' (2012). The group, based in Vancouver, has continued to perform, including tour dates announced in support of the release of two studio albums, ''Men Without Hats Again (Parts 1 & 2)'', in 2021 and 2022 respectively. History Early days Men Without Hats was founded in Montreal in 1977, initially as a punk rock band featuring Ivan Doroschuk (vocals), Pete Seabrooke (guitar), Dave Hill (bass), and John Gurri ...

MCA Records
MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records. MCA was forced to exit the talent agency business in order to complete the merger. As American Decca owned Universal Pictures, MCA assumed full ownership of Universal and made it into a top film studio, producing several hits. In 1966, MCA formed Uni Records and in 1967, purchased Kapp Records which was placed under Uni Records management. History The early years In 1937, the owner of Decca, E. R. Lewis, chose to split off the UK Decca company from the US company (keeping his US Decca holdings), fearing the financial damage that would arise for UK Companies if the emerging hostilities of Nazi Germany should lead t ...

Folk Of The 80's
''Folk of the 80's'' is an EP released by Canadian synth-pop group Men Without Hats. Recorded in the summer of 1980 at Studio A in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and released later that year, it was their first release. The song "Antarctica" is featured here in its original length with an extra instrumental break and verse that does not appear in the edit used on the album ''Rhythm of Youth'' and future compilation albums. The song "Modern(e) Dancing" proved to be a minor club hit in the local Montreal alternative club scene at the time of the initial release of the EP. The original 1984 UK CD release of ''Rhythm of Youth'' contained this EP and the extended club remix of "The Safety Dance" as bonus tracks, however the version of "Antarctica" used there was edited. All four songs on the record later appeared on the band's ''Freeways'' EP in 1985. In 2014, the album was reissued as a digital download, however it used the single version of "Antarctica". This EP is not to be confused w ...

No Hats Beyond This Point
''No Hats Beyond this Point'' is the sixth studio album by Canadian synthpop group Men Without Hats. Released in 2003, it was their first album in twelve years. After the release of the album, the group broke up. It was the group's third and final album to be produced by Stefan Doroschuk. Style and availability The album's music consisted almost entirely of synthesizers, reverting to the group's previous sound. "How Does it Feel", the fourth track on the album, dates back to 2000, having been written for Ivan Doroschuk's putative second solo album. All instruments were played by brothers Ivan and Stefan Doroschuk, with Ivan as lead singer. Female background vocals were provided by Stefan's wife Mary-Lou Deehy, joined on one track by Stefan's daughters Mary-Lynn and Emmy-Lo ...

It was founded in 1962 as the Grammophon-Philips Group by Dutch corporation Philips and German corporation Siemens, to be a holding for their record companies, and was renamed "PolyGram" in 1972. The company traced its origins through Deutsche Grammophon back to the inventor of the flat disc gramophone, Emil Berliner. Later on, PolyGram expanded into the largest global entertainment company, creating film and television divisions. In May 1998, it was sold to the alcoholic distiller Seagram which owned film, television and music company Universal Studios.
