Love In The Age Of War
''Love in the Age of War'', released in 2012, is the seventh studio album by Canadian new wave group Men Without Hats. Production ''Love in the Age of War'', originally expected to be titled ''Folk of the 80's (Part IV)'', was the first studio album by Men Without Hats after a hiatus of over eight years. It featured ten original songs written by Ivan Doroschuk. It is the group's only album to feature guitarist James Love, who was replaced by Sho Murray in late 2016. It is also the only album to feature keyboardists Mark Olexson, who was replaced by Rachel Ashmore after the album was released, and Louise Dawson. The songs were written by Doroschuk "in the back of the bus" while touring in the summer of 2011 with The Human League, and were recorded from December 2011 to February 2012. Men Without Hats
Men Without Hats are a Canadian New wave music, new wave and synth-pop band, originally from Montreal, Quebec. Their music is characterized by the baritone voice of their lead singer Ivan Doroschuk, as well as their elaborate use of synthesizers and electronic processing. They achieved their greatest popularity in the 1980s with "The Safety Dance", a worldwide top ten hit (No. 3 in the United States), and "Pop Goes the World (song), Pop Goes the World". New Wave Music
New wave is a loosely defined music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s. Synthpop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. The former member of bands Skinny Puppy and Jakalope started his recording career in Vancouver working as an engineer at Mushroom Studios. Ivan Eugene Doroschuk (, ), born 9 October 1957, is an American-born Canadian musician. He is the lead vocalist and founding member of Men Without Hats, best known for the hit song "The Safety Dance". Early life Ivan Doroschuk was born on 9 October 1957 in Champaign, Illinois to Ukrainian-Canadian parents Eugene and Betty Doroschuk. Doroschuk and his younger brothers Stefan and Colin were born in the United States while their father was pursuing a doctorate at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Eugene Doroschuk received his PhD in 1962, and accepted a teaching position at the Université de Montréal. Betty Doroschuk became a member of the music faculty at Montreal's McGill University, teaching classical voice. The Human League
The Human League are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977. Skinny Puppy is a Canadian industrial music group formed in Vancouver in 1982. The group is among the founders of the industrial rock and electro-industrial genres. An anchor is a device, normally made of metal , used to secure a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current.
