Live Box
''Live Box'' is a set of 4 live CDs, a live DVD and a 36-page booklet by Icelandic musician Björk, released in August 2003. Each live CD roughly corresponds to one album in her (at the time of release) four album solo discography. The 4 live CDs were later released separately in June 2004 Background When Björk was pregnant with her daughter Ísadóra in 2002 she decided to start sorting through the hundreds of hours of live recordings she had collected from her tours. Assisted in the process by the head of Smekkleysa, Ásmundur Jónsson, they decided on the best performances from each of the tours to include on the live albums. This release of live material was initially confirmed by the inclusion of live tracks on the "It's in Our Hands" single in 2002, credited to the "Forthcoming album ''Vespertine Live''". "Hyperballad" (sometimes written as "Hyper-Ballad") is a song by Icelandic musician and recording artist Björk, released as the fourth single from her second solo album, ''Post'' (1995). The song was written by Björk and co-produced by long time collaborator Nellee Hooper. It infuses folktronica, acid house and synth-pop. The lyrical content discusses a dream that Björk experienced, in which she wakes early before her lover and throws small objects off a cliff, watching them smash. She imagines her body in their place, which makes her feel better about returning to her safe home and the arms of her lover. "Hyperballad" was heavily lauded by contemporary music critics, who stated that it was the best song of Björk's career. "Venus as a Boy" is a song by Icelandic musician Björk, released as the second single from her 1993 album, ''Debut''. The song was written by Björk and was produced by Nellee Hooper, who produced the majority of her debut album. The single was released in August 1993, a month after the release of the album. The song was inspired by a boy who saw everything from a "beauty point of view". "Venus as a Boy" is an ambient and chill-out song that features a musical ensemble made up of Indian instruments like tablas. Nellee Hooper (born Paul Andrew Hooper on 15 March 1963) is a British record producer, remixer and songwriter known for his work with many major recording artists beginning in the late 1980s. He also debuted as a motion picture music composer with Scottish composer Craig Armstrong and Marius De Vries for the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann's ''Romeo + Juliet'' in 1996. Hooper has produced seven Grammy Award-winning recordings for artists including Smashing Pumpkins, U2, Soul II Soul, and Sinéad O'Connor. It features two complete MTV performances: the first show was recorded on ''MTV Unplugged'' in 1994 during the promotion of her album '' Debut'' and the second show was recorded on '' MTV Live'' in 1998 for the promotion of her album ''Homogenic ''Homogenic'' is the third studio album by Icelandic recording artist Björk. Leila Arab ( fa, لیلا عرب, born in 1971), professionally known as Leila, is an Iranian-born record producer and DJ based in London, England. She has released music on the labels Rephlex Records, Rephlex, XL Recordings, XL and Warp (record label), Warp. She has also worked extensively with Icelandic singer Björk. Biography Arab was born in Pahlavi Iran and spent part of her childhood there. Her family fled to London following the Iranian Revolution in 1979. She became interested in disc jockey, DJing and keyboards, and left college to perform with singer Björk 1994, later working with her as a sound engineer and live mixer. She met Aphex Twin, Richard D. James while both were on tour with Björk, and both James and Grant Wilson-Claridge suggested she release her solo recordings on their label Rephlex Records. Matmos
Matmos is an experimental electronic music duo originally from San Francisco but now residing in Baltimore. M. C. (Martin) Schmidt and Drew Daniel are the core members, but they frequently include other artists on their records and in their performances, including notably J Lesser. Apart from releasing twelve full-length studio albums and numerous collaborative works, Matmos is also well known for their collaboration with Icelandic singer and musician Björk, both on studio recordings and live tours. After being signed to Matador Records for nine years, Matmos signed with Thrill Jockey in 2012. Zeena Parkins
Zeena Parkins (born 1956) is an American composer and multi-instrumentalist active in experimental, free improvised, contemporary classical, and avant-jazz music; she is known for having "reinvented the harp". Parkins performs on standard harps, several custom electric harps, piano, and accordion. She is a 2019 Guggenheim Fellow and professor in the Music Department at Mills College. ''Homogenic Live'' is a live album by Icelandic singer Björk, collecting her favorite performances from her 1997–1999 Homogenic Tour. It was Björk's first tour to have soundboard recordings and thus the first of her live CDs to feature a wide variety of performances taken from different dates and venues throughout a single tour. Originally released in the five-disc '' Live Box'' set in 2003, ''Homogenic Live'' was later released separately on 1 June 2004 by One Little Indian records. Background Björk did not have soundboard recordings for her first two concert tours. ''Volumen'' is a music video collection released by Icelandic musician Björk on 30 November 1998 as a VHS and on 31 May 1999 as a DVD. It includes all of Björk's videos until " Hunter".
