Jurong West Public Library
Jurong West Public Library is a public library in Jurong West, Singapore. It is co-located with The Frontier Community Club at Jurong West Community Building. The nearest MRT station is Boon Lay. It is the first public library owned by the National Library Board to be located inside a mall. History The library was originally called Jurong West Community Library. It was officially opened on 28 March 1996 by Mr Ho Kah Leong, who was the then Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Environment and Member of Parliament for Jurong. The library was located at Jurong Point. It was relocated to The Frontier Community Place after being closed for 2 months. It reopened on 10 March 2006. Yishun Public Library
Yishun Public Library (Simplified Chinese: 义顺社区图书馆), is a public library located in Yishun in the North Region of Singapore. It is currently located at Level 4, North Wing of Northpoint City and serves the areas of Yishun, Khatib and Canberra. The target community includes residents of Chong Pang, Nee Soon Central, Nee Soon East and Nee Soon South. History 1998-2008: Official Opening Yishun Public Library was first opened on 26 February 1998 by Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee, then Minister of State for Law and Home Affairs and Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC. Toa Payoh Public Library
The Toa Payoh Public Library (Chinese: 大巴窑图书馆), formerly Toa Payoh Community Library (Chinese: 大巴窑社区图书馆) and Toa Payoh Branch Library, is an established library located in the Toa Payoh Town Centre, Singapore, opened on 7 February 1974. It consists of three floors and has a large floor area of approximately 4125 m2. The building which the library currently based in once housed the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games Secretariat for the 1973 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games in Singapore. The library is also within walking distance of HDB Hub, Toa Payoh Bus Interchange and Toa Payoh MRT station. Sengkang Public Library
Sengkang Public Library is a public library owned by the National Library Board situated inside Compass One in Sengkang New Town, and it occupies levels 3 and 4. It is near Sengkang Bus Interchange and the Sengkang MRT/LRT station. History Originally called Sengkang Community Library, it was officially opened on 30 November 2002 by Rear-Admiral (NS) Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister for Education and Second Minister of Defence, and Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris GRC as Singapore’s first DIY library. It used to occupy only level 4 of Compass Point (now Compass One). Its name was changed to Sengkang Public Library in 2008. Sembawang Public Library
Sembawang Public Library is a public library located in Sun Plaza shopping mall at Sembawang, Singapore. It was officially opened on 11 August 2000 by K. Shanmugam, then Minister of Parliament for Sembawang Group Representation Constituency (Chong Pang). The library relocated to Level 5 of Sun Plaza Shopping Mall, and was reopened on 5 November 2014 by Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Health & Ministry of Transport. The library occupies the entire fifth storey with a floor area of 1,607 square metres. It serves residents in the North West areas of Lim Chu Kang, Mandai, Sembawang, Simpang, Sungei Kadut, Woodlands and Yishun, and has a wide-ranging collection size of 150,000 for users of all age groups. Queenstown Public Library
Queenstown Public Library is one of the 26 public libraries established by the National Library Board of Singapore. It was the first full-time Branch Library to be built by the National Library in its plan to decentralise home reading services. It pioneered several firsts amongst Branch Libraries, including becoming the first fully air-conditioned Branch in 1978, computerising its loan services in 1987, and lending video cassettes in 1997. It was refurbished in 2003. The building plans were approved by Mrs Hedwig Anuar, the then-Director of the National Library. Building construction began in November 1968 and with its completion, the building was handed over to the National Library on 26 December 1969. Pasir Ris Public Library is a public library in Pasir Ris, Singapore, located inside White Sands. It is near Pasir Ris MRT station and Pasir Ris Bus Interchange. Marine Parade Public Library
Marine Parade Public Library is a public library in Marine Parade, Singapore. It is co-located with Marine Parade Community Club in the Marine Parade Community Building. It is the first public library owned by the National Library Board to be located inside a community building. Currently, it is the only public library that is not located near any MRT station. Orchard Gateway
Orchard Gateway (stylized as orchardgateway) is a shopping mall in Orchard Road, Singapore, connecting Orchard Central and 313@Somerset together next to Somerset MRT station. The mall was meant to be completed in November 2013, but was delayed and officially opened on 26 April 2014. It was built on the site of the former Specialists Shopping Centre and Orchard Emerald. The mall is part of an integrated development which includes a hotel and an office tower. The hotel is built above the mall and the office tower is built above orchardgateway@emerald, another shopping mall located opposite Orchard Gateway. Library@orchard
library@orchard (Chinese: 乌节图书馆) is a public library under the National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore. Initially located on level 5 of Ngee Ann City on Orchard Road in the Central Area of Singapore, library@orchard was opened by Lee Yock Suan, Minister for Information and the Arts on 21 October 1999. It closed on 30 November 2007 after its lease at Ngee Ann City was not renewed. It reopened on 23 October 2014 at a new location on levels 3 and 4 of Orchard Gateway on Orchard Road by Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information, next to Somerset MRT station.
