Dušan Džamonja
Dušan Džamonja ( sr, Душан Џамоња, ; 31 January 1928 – 14 January 2009) was a Yugoslav sculptor of Serbian ancestry. Education and career Džamonja was born in 1928 in Strumica, former Vardar Banovina, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In 1945, Džamonja began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb under the professors Vanja Radauš, Frano Kršinić and Antun Augustinčić, all notable artists. In 1951, he graduated in the master class of professor Antun Augustinčić. He worked in the Krsinic workshop from 1951 until 1953 when he started his own workshop in Zagreb. In 1954 he held his first solo exhibition in the Salon ULUH in Zagreb. In 1970, he began the construction of his house and workshop in Vrsar, Istria according to his own design. Artistic style Džamonja drew primarily in chalk and used the technique of washed ink; however, he leaned towards sculpture early on. Miroslav Kraljević
Miroslav Kraljević (14 December 1885 – 16 April 1913) was a Croatian painter, printmaker and sculptor, active in the early part of the 20th century. He is one of the founders of modern art in Croatia. Kraljević studied painting in Vienna and Munich at the prestigious Academy of Arts along with Oskar Herman, Vladimir Becić and Josip Račić. This group of Croatian artists were later called the Munich Circle, known for their influence on modern art in Croatia. After Munich, Kraljević spent time in the family home at Požega, and then in Paris where he produced his best work. He died in Zagreb in April 1913, aged 27, from tuberculosis. Miroslav Kraljević painted in many different styles, including Impressionism, Pointillism and Expressionism. He also became known for his drawings of grotesque or erotic characters, in a similar way to Aubrey Beardsley, and for his sculptures. Ivan Kožarić
Ivan Kožarić (10 June 1921, Petrinja – 15 November 2020, Zagreb) was a Croatian artist who worked primarily with sculpture but also in a wide variety of media, including: permanent and temporary sculptures, assemblages, proclamations, photographs, paintings, and installations. He lived and worked in Zagreb, Croatia. His works are characterized by a sense of mischief, spontaneity and by his nonchalant approach to life. He was one of the founding members of the Gorgona Group, whose active members between 1959 and 1966 were Miljenko Horvat, Julije Knifer, Marijan Jevšovar, Dimitrije Bašičević (who also works under the name Mangelos), Matko Meštrović, Radoslav Putar, Đuro Seder and Josip Vaništa. Kuzma Kovačić
Kuzma Kovačić (born 6 June 1952 ) is a Croatian academic sculptor and professor. Kovačić was born at the island of Hvar, where he attended gymnasium. In 1976 he graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He is the author of the altar in Hvar Cathedral, the statue of pope John Paul II in Selca at the island of Brač, monuments of Franjo Tuđman in Škabrnja and Zagreb, monument of Antun Mihanović in Gata near Omiš, statue of Diva Grabovčeva near Prozor-Rama, altar relief in the Church of the Holy Mother of the Freedom in Zagreb and many others. Oja Kodar
Oja Kodar ( ; born Olga Palinkaš; 1941) is a Croatian actress, screenwriter and director known as Orson Welles's romantic partner during the later years of his life. Personal life Olga Palinkaš was born in Zagreb to a Hungarian father and a Croatian mother. She met Welles in 1961 in Zagreb, Croatia, Yugoslavia, when Welles was on location shooting ''The Trial'', released the following year. Welles, married to his third wife Paola Mori, took a liking to the "dark, beautiful and exotic-looking" Palinkaš. Soon after their romance took off, Welles gave her a stage name, Oja Kodar, which is a mixture of the nickname "Oja", used by her sister Nina, and the Croatian expression "" ("as a present"). In his final years, Welles divided his time between a Las Vegas home he shared with Mori and a Hollywood house with Kodar. Ivan Klapez, (born 1961) is a Croatian sculptor. Early life and family Ivan Klapez has been based in London since 1987. Amongst his collectors are Sebastian Conran and he has produced several commissions such as ‘Liberty’, bronze, 1991, Commissioned by The Aims of Industry for The Margaret Thatcher Award.
