Most of the works of Rogier van der Weyden consist of triptychs, diptychs or polyptychs, each including more than one panel. Some are dismembered and the parts are kept in different museums. Some panels are only fragmentary remains. This list features the paintings accepted as authentic by Dirk de Vos (2000). They are listed chronologically following the datings of de Vos. All works are executed in oil on oak panels unless otherwise mentioned. Rogier Van Der Weyden
Rogier van der Weyden () or Roger de la Pasture (1399 or 140018 June 1464) was an early Netherlandish painter whose surviving works consist mainly of religious triptychs, altarpieces, and commissioned single and diptych portraits. He was highly successful in his lifetime; his paintings were exported to Italy and Spain, and he received commissions from, amongst others, Philip the Good, Netherlandish nobility, and foreign princes. By the latter half of the 15th century, he had eclipsed Jan van Eyck in popularity. However his fame lasted only until the 17th century, and largely due to changing taste, he was almost totally forgotten by the mid-18th century. His reputation was slowly rebuilt during the following 200 years; today he is known, with Robert Campin and van Eyck, as the third (by birth date) of the three great Early Flemish artists (''Vlaamse Primitieven'' or "Flemish Primitives"), and widely as the most influential Northern painter of the 15th century. Koninklijk Museum Voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen
The Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (Dutch: ''Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen'', ''KMSKA'') is a museum in Antwerp, Belgium, founded in 1810, that houses a collection of paintings, sculptures and drawings from the fourteenth to the twentieth centuries. Riggisberg
Riggisberg is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. On January 1, 2009, the municipality of Rüti bei Riggisberg became part of the municipality of Riggisberg. On 1 January 2021 the former municipality of Rümligen merged into Riggisberg. History Riggisberg is first mentioned in 1239 as ''Ricasperc''. In 1270 it was mentioned as ''Riggesberg''. The oldest trace of a settlement in the area are several Iron Age graves at Kreuzbühlhölzli. During the Roman era there was a settlement at Muriboden. The Museum der bildenden Künste (German: "Museum of Fine Arts") is a museum in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. It covers artworks from the Late Middle Ages to Modernity. History Museum Foundation and First Museum The museum dates back to the founding of the "Leipzig Art Association" by Leipzig art collectors and promoters in 1837, and had set itself the goal of creating an art museum. On 10 December 1848, the association was able to open the "Städtische Museum" in the first public school on the Moritzbastei. There were issued approximately hundred gathered and donated works of (at that time) contemporary art. Through major donations including Maximilian Speck von Sternburg, Alfred Thieme and Adolf Heinrich Schletter the collection grew with time. ''Visitation'' is a c.1445 oil on panel painting of the Visitation by Rogier van der Weyden, now in the Museum der bildenden Künste in Leipzig. It is linked to Luke 1:40. Composition Mary's posture is used to symbolize her status as the Mother of Christ. The view behind Mary is panoramic, suggesting that she has walked a long distance. Mary's posture is straight, in comparison to Elizabeth, who has her knee slightly bent towards the ground. Both of the women have a hand placed upon the stomach of the other. Saint Luke Drawing The Virgin
''Saint Luke Drawing the Virgin'' is a large oil and tempera on oak panel painting, usually dated between 1435 and 1440, attributed to the Early Netherlandish painting, Early Netherlandish painter Rogier van der Weyden. Housed in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, it shows Luke the Evangelist, patron saint of artists, sketching the Mary (mother of Jesus), Virgin Mary as she nurses the Child Jesus. The figures are positioned in a bourgeois interior which leads out towards a courtyard, river, town and landscape. The Hortus conclusus, enclosed garden, illusionistic carvings of Adam and Eve on the arms of Mary's throne, and attributes of St Luke are amongst the painting's many iconographic symbols.
