List Of Trolleybus Routes In Bucharest
This is a list of the 16 trolleybus routes running in Bucharest, Romania, operated by the city's public transport company, STB as of July 2015. For more information about Bucharest's trolleybus network, see Trolleybuses in Bucharest. Routes marked with use wheelchair-accessible low-floor vehicles (Irisbus Citelis) on some services, however the Ikarus 415T trolleys are more common. There are also other routes not running due to ongoing works on the M4 and M5 metro lines. Routes Temporary Suspended lines : 71 : Valea Argesului - Gara de Nord. Its place is taken by 93 (previously Gara de Nord - Valea Ialomitei) Suspended due to underground works. 90 and 91 were rerouted from Valea Ialomitei to Valea Argesului respectively to Depoul Alexandria. 92 : Vasile Parvan - Universitate - Barajul Dunarii. Bucharest has the largest transport network in Romania, and one of the largest in Europe. The Bucharest transport network is made up of a metro network and a surface transport network. Although there are multiple connection points, the two systems operate independently of each other, are run by different organisations (the metro is run by Metrorex and the surface transport network by Societatea de Transport București. The Irisbus Citelis is a low-floor city bus produced by Irisbus from 2005 to 2013 when it was replaced in production by Iveco Bus Urbanway. Production and operation It was introduced in 2005 to replace the Agora. It comes in three varieties: Citelis 10 and Citelis 12, which are standard buses with respectively and length, and Citelis 18, which is articulated and has a length of . Citelis models use Euro 4, Euro 5 & EEV engines. The buses can also be built as trolleybuses, utilising overhead electrical wires for their power supply instead of fuel. Bucharest Metro Line M4
M4 is one of the five lines of the Bucharest Metro. It is currently long and runs from Gara de Nord to Străulești, following the Griviței and Bucureștii Noi avenues. History Construction of the line started in September 1989, shortly before the Romanian Revolution. The tunnels were built up to where Parc Bazilescu is today. Construction was abandoned afterwards and was resumed later on in the 90's. The first section of the M4 opened on 1 March 2000 from Gara de Nord to 1 Mai. After many years of delays the next section to Parc Bazilescu was finally opened on 1 July 2011. Parc Bazilescu was not in the initial plan and was only built to open the section quicker. Gara De Nord Metro Station
Gara de Nord is the name of two separate metro stations, situated near Gara de Nord train station in Bucharest and serving lines M1 and M4. Neither of the metro stations nor the railway station are interconnected, passengers being required to use the next station (Basarab) to switch from M1 to M4 directly, without having to validate a ticket. The first station was opened on 24 December 1987 as the eastern terminus on an extension from Crângași. On 17 August 1989, the extension to Dristor was opened. The M4 station was opened on 1 March 2000 as part of the inaugural section of the line from Gara de Nord to 1 Mai.
