Portuguese Settlement, Malacca
The Portuguese Settlement (Saint John's Village; pt, Aldeia de São João; ms, Kampung St. John, Kampung Portugis) is an area of Ujong Pasir in, Malacca, Malaysia, which serves as a home for the Kristang people. The Kristang people are a Malaysian ethnic group with mixed Portuguese and Malay heritage, originating from the time of the Portuguese rule in Malacca (16th to 17th century). In 1933, 11 hectares of land at Malacca were purchased with the purpose of creating a haven for the scattered Kristang people. The swampy land was cleared and 10 wooden houses with earth floors and attap roofs were built. Saint John's village, as that simple fishing village was originally known, soon attracted additional Kristang from other areas of Malacca, and grew to become one of Malacca's main tourist attractions, improving the standard of living of its villagers. Morten Village
The Morten Village ( ms, Kampung Morten) is a historical traditional Malay village in Melaka City, Melaka, Malaysia. Naming The village is named after a British land revenue collector during the British Malaya, Frederick Joseph Morten. History The area used to be a quiet place during the 1960s and 1970s. Little India, Malacca
The Melaka Little India is a Little India in Melaka City, Melaka, Malaysia. History Littleton Pipe Wolferstan was the British Governor of Malacca in the 1910s. A road in Malacca was named after him. Its name is Ulberston Road. Its current name has been changed to Jalan Bendahara. It is on this road that Malacca Little India is located.. St. Peter's Church St. Peter's Church is located at the intersection of Malacca Little India Road and Park Raya Road. The oldest in Malaysia. Malacca
Malacca ( ms, Melaka) is a state in Malaysia located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Strait of Malacca. Submarine Museum ( ms, Muzium Kapal Selam) is a museum made out of a decommissioned submarine situated in Klebang, Malacca, Malaysia. The decommissioned submarine is a France-made Agosta class 70 submarine named Quessant (S623), which was used to train the first Royal Malaysian Navy crews from 2005 to 2009. It measures 67.5 meters in length, 11.7 in height and 6.5 meters in width, with a displacement of 1,300 tonnes, and was last used by the Royal Malaysian Navy and French Navy in July 2009, when journey through the Atlantic Ocean was made. On 23 September 2011, Malaysian Ambassador to France Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal signed an agreement for the ownership of the unused submarine with French Defense Minister.
