This is a list of issue covers of ''TV Guide'' magazine for the decade of the 1950s, from its national launch in April 1953 through December 1959. The entries on this table include each cover's subjects and their artists (photographer or illustrator). This list is for the regular weekly issues of ''TV Guide''; any one-time-only special issues are not included. From April 3, 1953 to July 9, 1954, the magazine organized their TV listings from Friday to Thursday. Eddie Fisher
Edwin Jack Fisher (August 10, 1928 – September 22, 2010) was an American singer and actor. He was one of the most popular artists during the 1950s, selling millions of records and hosting his own TV show, ''The Eddie Fisher Show''. Actress Elizabeth Taylor was best friends with Fisher's first wife, actress Debbie Reynolds. After Taylor's third husband, Mike Todd, was killed in a plane crash, Fisher divorced Reynolds and he and Taylor married that same year. The scandalous affair that Fisher and Taylor had been having while each were already married was widely reported and brought unfavorable publicity to both Fisher and Taylor. Claude Kirchner
Claude Kirchner (February 11, 1916 – March 8, 1993), was an American television announcer and personality whose 50-year career in radio and television included hosting popular children's programs in Chicago and New York City from 1949 until 1970. The best known of these were ''Super Circus'', ''Terrytoon Circus / Merrytoon Circus'' and ''Super Adventure Theater''. Early years Klaus von Hindenburg Kirchner was born during the middle of World War I in Rostock, a Baltic Sea port city of the German Empire. In 1925, at the age of 9, he moved with his family to the United States, settling in the Chicago suburb of Riverside, Illinois where he was a student at Riverside Brookfield High School. Mary Pauline Hartline (October 29, 1927 – August 12, 2020) was an American model and actress who became one of television's early stars. Early life Hartline was born in Hillsboro, Illinois, the second child and second daughter of Paul and Dorothy Crowder Hartline. Her father was involved in local politics, becoming chairman of the Montgomery County Democratic Party and, after Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president, the Hillsboro postmaster. Hartline graduated from Hillsboro High School, where she was elected the "Queen of Love and Beauty" (then the equivalent of the prom queen). Harold Stokes was a Montgomery County native who had gained success as a band leader and radio personality. Super Circus
''Super Circus'' is an American television program that aired live on Sunday afternoons from 5 to 6pm Eastern Time from 1949 to 1956 on ABC. The show was produced in Chicago by WBKB-TV (today's WLS-TV) through 1955, and its production moved to New York City and WABC-TV for its final season. The award-winning show featured circus and clown acts performing in front of a studio audience. Mary Hartline and Claude Kirchner were the hosts ( Jerry Colonna succeeded Kirchner as "Ringmaster" in the final New York season), and Bruce Chase conducted the band. Phil Patton was the producer, and Ed Skotch was the director. Primarily known for pop and country music, she was the top-charting female vocalist and best-selling female artist of the 1950s, selling over 100 million records during a six-decade-long career. Max Liebman (August 2, 1902 – July 21, 1981) was a Broadway theater and TV producer-director sometimes called the "Ziegfeld of TV", who helped establish early television's comedy vocabulary with ''Your Show of Shows''. He additionally helped bring improvisational comedy into the mainstream with his 1961 Broadway revue ''From the Second City''.
