Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III (March 2, 1917 – December 2, 1986), known as Desi Arnaz, was a Cuban-American actor, musician, producer, and bandleader. He played Ricky Ricardo on the American television sitcom ''I Love Lucy'', in which he co-starred with his wife Lucille Ball. Arnaz and Ball are credited as the innovators of the Broadcast syndication, syndicated rerun, which they pioneered with the ''I Love Lucy'' series. Arnaz and Lucille Ball co-founded and ran the television production company Desilu Productions, originally to market ''I Love Lucy'' to television networks. After ''I Love Lucy'' ended, Arnaz went on to produce several other television series, at first with Desilu Productions, and later independently, including ''The Ann Sothern Show'' and ''The Untouchables (1959 TV series), The Untouchables''. Xavier Cugat (; ; 1 January 1900 – 27 October 1990) was an American musician and bandleader who was a leading figure in the spread of Latin music. Originally from Girona, Spain, he spent his formative years in Havana, Cuba, before arriving in New York City in 1915. A trained violinist and arranger, he was the leader of the resident orchestra at the Waldorf–Astoria before and after World War II. Also a restaurateur in West Hollywood, he and his band appeared in numerous motion pictures in the 1930s and 1940s. He was also a cartoonist. The Cuban Revolution of 1933 (), also called the Sergeants' Revolt, was a coup d'etat that occurred in Cuba in September 1933.
