Italian Left
Italian Left ( it, Sinistra Italiana, SI) is a left-wing political party in Italy. SI was launched in November 2015 as a parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies (full name: Italian Left – Left Ecology Freedom), including Left Ecology Freedom (SEL), dissidents from the Democratic Party like Future to the Left, and splinters from the Five Star Movement. At its launch, SI included 32 deputies, who were soon followed by 8 senators (who formed a sub-group within the Mixed Group of the Senate in February 2016), and 2 MEPs. SI was officially formed as a full-fledged party in February 2017, after SEL had chosen to merge into it in December 2016. The party is led by Nicola Fratoianni. Notable founding members included Nichi Vendola (former leader of SEL), Loredana De Petris, Stefano Fassina, and Sergio Cofferati. Integral Autonomy (1982)
Integral Autonomy ( it, Autonomia Integrale, AI) was a regionalist Christian-democratic Italian political party based in Trentino. History In 1982 the Trentino Tyrolean People's Party (PPTT) broke up: the more conservative wing formed the Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Union (UATT), while the more centrist wing formed Integral Autonomy, under the leadership of the longstanding leader of the PPTT Enrico Pruner. In the 1983 provincial election Integral Autonomy won only 3.1% of the vote, while Franco Tretter's UATT the much higher 8.2%. The Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Union ( it, Unione Autonomista Trentino Tirolese, UATT) was a regionalist Christian-democratic Italian political party based in Trentino which was active from 1982 to 1988. History In 1982 the Trentino Tyrolean People's Party broke up: the more conservative wing formed the UATT, while the more centrist wing formed Integral Autonomy. Trentino Tyrolean People's Party
The Trentino Tyrolean People's Party ( it, Partito Popolare Trentino Tirolese, PPTT; german: Trentiner Volkspartei, TVP) was a regionalist Christian-democratic Italian political party based in Trentino which was active from 1948 to 1982. History The PPTT was formed on 25 July 1948 as the transformation into political party of the Association Autonomistic Regional Studies (''Associazione Studi Autonomistici Regionali'', ASAR). ASAR, whose slogan was "integral autonomy from Borghetto to Brenner", was a group which fought successfully for the establishment of the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol as special statute Region. New Left (Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol)
The New Left (german: Neue Linke, it, Nuova Sinistra, NL-NS) was a list which contexted the 1978 Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol regional election. The list was led by Alexander Langer, a former member of Lotta Continua. NL-NS opposed the dominant ethnic division in South Tyrolean politics. NL-NS won 12,315 votes (4.38%) in Trentino and 9,753 votes (3.65%) in South Tyrol. In total, NL-NS obtained 4.03% of the votes cast in the election. The list won two seats, one from Trento (Alessandro Canestrini) and one from South Tyrol (Alexander Langer). Craftsman-Farmer Alliance
Luigi Carbonari (1880–1971) was an Italian politician from Trentino who was active in the agricultural cooperative movement. Biography Born in the village of Carbonare, Folgaria, in 1880, at the time part of the County of Tyrol, an estate of Austria-Hungary, Carbonari completed studies in law and political science, graduating from the Universities of Vienna in 1907 and Heidelberg in 1908. During his studies he was active in the movements for Italian language rights and autonomy for Trentino. In 1906, along with Alcide De Gasperi, he was imprisoned for taking part in demonstrations demanding the Italian University of Trieste and in 1907 he was arrested for calling for the Italian annexation of Trentino. Carbonari was elected to Senate in 1948 serving one term until 1953. He served on the 8th Standing Commission on Agriculture and Food. The Independent Autonomists (''Autonomisti Indipendenti'', AI) was a social-liberal Italian political party active in Aosta Valley. It was founded in March 1991 by Ilario Lanivi, ex-leading member of the Progressive Democratic Autonomists, and Amato Maquignaz. In April 1992 Lanivi became President of the Region at the head of a coalition composed by the Valdostan Union, the Democratic Party of the Left, the Italian Socialist Party, the Progressive Democratic Autonomists and the Italian Republican Party. Ladin Autonomist Union
The Ladin Autonomist Union ( lld, Union Autonomista Ladina; it, Unione Autonomista Ladina; UAL) is a minor progressive-centrist political party in Trentino, Italy, that seeks to represent the Ladin minority in the Province and especially that living in Fassa Valley. Its main leader is Giuseppe Detomas. The party was formed in 1983 and its founder Ezio Anesi was elected that year provincial deputy for the Italian Republican Party. In the 1992 Anesi was elected to the Italian Senate for the Italian Socialist Party. After the disappearance of the so-called First Republic parties, including the Socialists, the UAL formed an alliance with the Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party (PATT) at the provincial level and with The Olive Tree (''l'Ulivo'') at the national level.
