Track And Field
Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. Edward Romanowski
Edward Romanowski (30 July 1944 – 11 November 2007) was a Polish sprinter who specialized in the 200 metres. He was born in Warsaw and represented the club Legia Warszawa. At the 1967 European Indoor Games he won a silver medal in the 4 x 300 metres relay, which he ran together with Tadeusz Jaworski, Jan Balachowski and Edmund Borowski. At the 1968 Olympic Games he reached heat two of the 200 metres. In the 4 x 100 metres relay he finished eighth in the final together with Wiesław Maniak, Zenon Nowosz and Marian Dudziak. At the 1969 European Indoor Games he won a gold medal in the relay, where Poland was the only competing team. The teammates were Andrzej Badeński, Henryk Szordykowski and Jan Radomski. Janusz (Jan) Jarzembowski (29 November 1933 – 14 June 1961) was a Polish sprinter. He competed in the men's 100 metres at the 1956 Summer Olympics, exiting the competition at the quarter-final stage. At the same games, he competed in the Men's 200 metres, failing to qualify from his heat, and as a member of the Polish team in the Men's 4 × 100 metres relay, where Poland finished 6th in the final. In 1960, Jarzembowski was the Polish national champion in the men's 200 metres, with a time of 21.7 seconds. In the same year, he was part of Poland's 4 x 100 metres relay team at the 1960 Summer Olympics; they were disqualified in the heats. Marcin Jędrusiński (born 28 September 1981) is a Polish former sprint athlete. Jędrusiński represented Poland at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2004 Olympics in Athens. He competed at the 4x100 metres relay together with Dariusz Kuc, Lukasz Chyla and Marcin Andrzej Nowak. In their qualification heat they did not finish due to a mistake in the baton exchange and they were eliminated. At the individual 200 metres he qualified second in his first round heat behind Shawn Crawford in a time of 20.64 seconds. He improved his time in the second round to 20.58 seconds, but only finished fourth behind Brendan Christian, Churandy Martina and Kristof Beyens. Marcin Urbaś (born September 17, 1976 in Kraków) is a former Polish track and field athlete. He is the Polish record holder for the 200 metres dash with 19.98 seconds. He is now a sprinting coach. Track and field Urbaś is the Polish national record holder over the half-a-lap (19.98 seconds in the semi-final of the 1999 World Championships in Seville, Spain.
