Dziemiany ( csb, Dzemiónë; formerly german: Dzimianen, (1942-5): ''Sophienwalde'') is a village in Kościerzyna County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Dziemiany. It lies approximately south-west of Kościerzyna and south-west of the regional capital Gdańsk. It was the location of the Nazi concentration camp ''Dzimianen'' - ''Sophienwalde'', a subcamp of the concentration camp Stutthof. Here the '' SS-Truppenübungsplatz Westpreußen'' was located during the occupation of Poland in World War II. The village has a population of 1571. Dariusz Kuć (born 24 April 1986) is a Polish sprint athlete. However, in Beijing he qualified for the second round after finishing fifth in his heat behind Asafa Powell, Kim Collins, Craig Pickering and Daniel Grueso. 2001 World Championships In Athletics
The 8th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada between 3 August and 12 August and was the first time the event had visited North America. The music for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies was composed by Canadian composers Jan Randall and Cassius Khan. The ceremonies also featured a 1000 voice choir, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Edmonton defeated bids from Paris, France (which hosted the next edition) and the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States to host the event.
