Mumbai
Mumbai (, ; also known as Bombay — the official name until 1995) is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra and the ''de facto'' financial centre of India. Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli (; born 18 January 1972) is a former Indian international Cricketer, who played for India as a left-handed middle order batsman, as well as for Mumbai and Boland, South Africa. Kambli became the first cricketer in cricket history to score a century in a One-day International on his birthday. He has the highest career batting average for an Indian test cricketer of 54 but he played his last test when he was just 23 years old. Thereafter, he was only considered to play for One Day International matches, although his last appearance in that format was also at the young age of 28. He has appeared as a commentator on various television channels and worked with a Marathi News channel as a cricket expert for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Ravi Shastri
Ravishankar Jayadritha Shastri (born 27 May 1962) is the former head coach of the India national cricket team, a cricket commentator and former captain of Indian Cricket Team. As a player, he played for the India national cricket team between 1981 and 1992 in both Test matches and One Day Internationals. Although he started his career as a left arm spin bowler, he later transformed into a batting all-rounder. As a cricketer, Shastri was essentially defensive with his trademark "chapati shot" (a flick off the pads), but he could raise his strike rate when required. Due to his above-average height (he stood 6' 3" tall) and an upright stance, he had a limited number of shots against fast bowling, but was able to put the lofted shot to good use against spin bowling. Richard Rutnagur
Richard Sohrab Rutnagur (born 6 August 1964) is an Indian-born English former cricketer. The son of the Indian journalist Dicky Rutnagur, he was born at Bombay in August 1964. Two years later he moved to England when his father emigrated to work alongside E. W. Swanton at ''The Daily Telegraph''. He was educated at Westminster School, before going up to New College, Oxford. While studying at Oxford, he made his debut in first-class cricket for Oxford University against Somerset at Oxford in 1985. He played first-class cricket for Oxford until 1986, making sixteen appearances. Jemimah Jessica Rodrigues ( ; born 5 September 2000) is an Indian cricketer. She is an allrounder who plays for the Indian national women's cricket team and Mumbai women's cricket team. In addition, she also played for the Under-17 Maharashtra hockey team. Ramesh Rajaram Powar (born 20 May 1978) is a former Indian cricketer. Powar was selected in 2000 for the first intake of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. and again he was named as India women's cricket team coach in 2021 June. Dattatraya Gajanan "Dattu" Phadkar (12 December 1925 – 17 March 1985) was an all-rounder who represented Indian cricket team, India in Test cricket. Phadkar was an attacking middle order batsman, a medium pace bowler who could swing the ball both ways and extract life from the wicket, and usually fielded in the slips. Sandeep Patil ( ; born 18 August 1956) is a former Indian cricketer, Indian national age group cricket manager and former Kenya national team coach, who guided the underdogs to the semi-finals of the 2003 World Cup. He was a hard-hitting middle order batsman and an occasional medium pace bowler. He was the coach of Mumbai Champs in the Indian Cricket League, but returned to the mainstream when he cut ties with the unofficial league in 2009. Vijay Merchant
Vijay Singh Madhavji Merchant , real name Vijay Madhav Thackersey (12 October 1911 – 27 October 1987) was an Indian cricketer. A right-hand batter and occasional right-arm medium pace bowler, Merchant played first-class cricket for Bombay cricket team as well as 10 Test matches for India between 1929 and 1951. Behind his limited Test appearances, he dominated Indian domestic cricket – his batting average of 71.64 is the second highest first-class average in history, behind only that of Don Bradman. He is regarded as the founder of the Bombay School of Batsmanship, that placed more importance on right technique, steely temperament, and conservative approach rather than free flow of the bat, a tradition broken and remoulded only after the arrival of Sachin Tendulkar. Vijay Manjrekar
Vijay Laxman Manjrekar (26 September 1931 – 18 October 1983) was an Indian cricketer who played 55 Tests. He represented several teams (Andhra, Bengal, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh) in his first-class career. A small man, he was a fine cutter and hooker of the ball. He is the father of Sanjay Manjrekar. Career Manjrekar's Test match debut came against England at Calcutta in 1951, making a composed 48. He scored his first Test hundred in June 1952 against England at Headingley making 133. It was his first Test in England and he was just 20 at the time. Sanjay Vijay Manjrekar (born 12 July 1965) is an Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer. He played international cricket for India from 1987 until 1996 as a right-handed middle order batsman. Domestic career Manjrekar was born in Mangalore, in what was previously known Mysore State (present-day Karnataka) in southern India in Marathi family, on 12 July 1965, the son of Vijay Manjrekar, who made 55 Test match appearances for India between 1952 and 1965. As a schoolboy, he competed in the Cooch Behar Trophy between 1978 and 1982. He attended Bombay University, and played in the Vizzy Trophy and the Rohinton Baria Trophy between 1983 and 1985, winning both in 1985, with West Zone Universities and Bombay University respectively.
