Below is a list of current Oceanian swimming records as ratified by the continental governing body Oceania Swimming Association. Currently, Australian swimmers hold all but 6 individual Oceanian records, held by New Zealanders Moss Burmester, Lewis Clareburt and Lauren Boyle: *the men's long-course and short-course 200m butterfly which are both held by Moss Burmester. *the men's long-course 400m individual medley which is held by Lewis Clareburt. *the women's short-course 800m freestyle, and long-course and short-course 1500m freestyle which are all held by Lauren Boyle. Omega SA is a Swiss luxury watchmaker based in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. Clyde Lewis
Clyde Lewis (born 25 September 1997) is an Australian competitive swimmer. He currently represents the Cali Condors which is part of the International Swimming League. Lewis won the gold medal in the 400 metre individual medley at the 2018 Commonwealth Games despite only gaining a place in the competition because another swimmer Mitch Larkin dropped out. He also bronze medaled in the 200 m individual medley. He also won the gold medal in the 200 metre individual medley at the 2015 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships. The men's 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on 10–11 August at the Beijing National Aquatics Center in Beijing, China. Matt Targett (swimmer)
Matthew Stephen Targett (born 24 December 1985) is an Australian sprint freestyle and butterfly swimmer and model. Career 2006 Commonwealth Games In 2006 and in his home town of Melbourne, Targett competed in the 50-metre butterfly, finishing second and placing above more experienced countrymen Michael Klim and Matt Welsh. Targett was later disqualified for twitching before the starter's signal. 2008 Olympic Games Targett's second international meet was at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, capturing a silver in the 4×100-metre medley and a bronze in the 4×100-metre freestyle relay, both in new Commonwealth record time. Ashley Callus
Ashley John Callus (born 10 March 1979) is an Australian former sprint freestyle swimmer, who won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Coming from Brisbane, Queensland, and of Maltese origin, Callus, graduated in Iona College, he was coached by Chris Urquhart, spent the beginning of his career as the understudy of fellow Australians Michael Klim and Chris Fydler. Andrew Lauterstein
Andrew George Lauterstein (born 22 May 1987) is an Australian swimmer and a three-time Olympic medalist. Personal Lauterstein grew up in Black Rock, Victoria and attended Brighton Grammar School. He has an elder brother and a younger sister. In his youth, Lauterstein was in the Victorian state football team and represented Australia at baseball in youth teams. He quit both sports at the age of 16 to concentrate on swimming. Outside of his swimming life, Lauterstein is a keen aspiring DJ and was one of the 50 nominees for the 2008 Cleo Bachelor of the Year award, which was eventually awarded to Jason Dundas. 2007 World Championships At the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne, Lauterstein qualified 11th in the heats of the 100-metre butterfly in a time of 52.63 seconds. Eamon Sullivan
Eamon Wade Sullivan (born 30 August 1985) is an Australian former sprint swimmer, three-time Olympic medallist, and former world record-holder in two events. He was also the winner of the first season of '' Celebrity MasterChef Australia'', and followed up his swimming career with a number of food business ventures. Swimming career In April 2002 at the Australian Age Championships, Sullivan won the 50 m freestyle and came second in 100 m in his age group, and swam at the Trans-Tasman series. At the 2004 Olympic trials he grabbed a spot in the 4x100 Freestyle relay team by finishing fourth in the final. Swimming At The 2022 Commonwealth Games – Men's 400 Metre Individual Medley
The men's 400 metre individual medley event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games was held on 30 July at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre. New Zealand's Lewis Clareburt won the event, from Australia's Brendon Smith and Scotland's Duncan Scott, setting a new Commonwealth record, Oceanian record, and New Zealand record. 2021 Australian Swimming Trials
The 2021 Australian Swimming Trials was a sports event that was held from 12 to 17 June 2021 at the South Australia Aquatic and Leisure Centre to determine Australia's swimming team to the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2020 Paralympics. Olympic Qualification criteria Australia can select a maximum of 56 swimmers (26 of each sex, with up to 18 for relay only swimmers) for the Olympic team. To qualify, a swimmer must reach the allotted Olympic Qualifying Time (OQT) and finish in the top 2 positions in the "A" final. Following the end of the qualification period, FINA will assess the number of athletes having achieved the OQT, the number of relay-only swimmers, and the number of Universality places, before inviting athletes with OST to fulfil the total quota of 878. Additionally, OST places will be distributed by event according to the position of the FINA World Rankings during the qualifying deadline. 2022 Australian Swimming Championships
The 2022 Australian Swimming Championships were held from 18 to 22 May 2022 at the South Australia Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide, South Australia. Originally scheduled for April, the meet was pushed back to May after the announcement of the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary scheduled for June 2022. This event doubled up as the national trials for the FINA World Championships, as well as the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Emma McKeon chose to miss this meet as under a new rule from Swimming Australia, McKeon was pre-selected for the 2022 Commonwealth Games after her successful 2021 Olympics campaign. During the Day 1 finals session, Cody Simpson finished third behind Matthew Temple and Kyle Chalmers. It was initially thought Simpson had qualified for the World Aquatics Championships as Chalmers was not going to swim, however Chalmers backflipped on his decision which ultimately pushed Simpson out of the team.
