2022 Australian Swimming Championships
The 2022 Australian Swimming Championships were held from 18 to 22 May 2022 at the South Australia Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide, South Australia. Originally scheduled for April, the meet was pushed back to May after the announcement of the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary scheduled for June 2022. This event doubled up as the national trials for the FINA World Championships, as well as the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Emma McKeon chose to miss this meet as under a new rule from Swimming Australia, McKeon was pre-selected for the 2022 Commonwealth Games after her successful 2021 Olympics campaign. During the Day 1 finals session, Cody Simpson finished third behind Matthew Temple and Kyle Chalmers. It was initially thought Simpson had qualified for the World Aquatics Championships as Chalmers was not going to swim, however Chalmers backflipped on his decision which ultimately pushed Simpson out of the team. Adelaide

Isaac Cooper
Isaac Cooper (born 7 January 2004) is an Australian swimmer. He competed in the men's 100 metre backstroke and in the heats of the 4x100 metre mixed medley relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Isaac competed in the 2022 FINA Short Course World Championships. He was denied a gold medal in the 50m backstroke event in bizarre circumstances after the final had to be re-run. Cooper's original swim had broken the World Junior Record (which he himself held from his swim in the semifinal) but it was discounted. He went on to achieve a World Record and Gold Medal in the 4×100m Medley Relay, and also won gold in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay. He is the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific champion in the 400-metre freestyle, 800-metre freestyle, 1500-metre freestyle, and 4×200-metre freestyle relay. Mackenzie James Horton (born 25 April 1996) is an Australian freestyle swimmer. He is an Olympic gold medallist, World Championships medallist, and Commonwealth Games medallist. Elijah Winnington
Elijah Winnington (born 5 May 2000) is an Australian competitive swimmer who specialises in the sprint freestyle events. He has competed in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, 2020 Summer Olympics, and 2022 World Aquatics Championships. Winnington is the current 400m freestyle world champion. Background Winnington was born in Gold Coast, Queensland. He went to King's Christian College, graduating in 2017.
