Andrew Lauterstein
Andrew George Lauterstein (born 22 May 1987) is an Australian swimmer and a three-time Olympic medalist. Personal Lauterstein grew up in Black Rock, Victoria and attended Brighton Grammar School. He has an elder brother and a younger sister. In his youth, Lauterstein was in the Victorian state football team and represented Australia at baseball in youth teams. He quit both sports at the age of 16 to concentrate on swimming. Outside of his swimming life, Lauterstein is a keen aspiring DJ and was one of the 50 nominees for the 2008 Cleo Bachelor of the Year award, which was eventually awarded to Jason Dundas. 2007 World Championships At the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne, Lauterstein qualified 11th in the heats of the 100-metre butterfly in a time of 52.63 seconds. Butterfly Stroke
The butterfly (colloquially shortened to fly) is a List of swimming styles, swimming stroke swum on the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically, accompanied by the butterfly kick (also known as the "dolphin kick"). While other styles like the breaststroke, front crawl, or backstroke can be swum adequately by beginners, the butterfly is a more difficult stroke that requires good technique as well as strong muscles. It is the newest swimming (sport), swimming style swum in competition, first swum in 1933 and originating out of the breaststroke. Speed and ergonomics The peak speed of the butterfly is faster than that of the front crawl due to the synchronous pull/push with both arms and legs, which is done quickly. Black Rock, Victoria
Black Rock is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 18 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Bayside local government area. Black Rock recorded a population of 6,389 at the 2021 census. History The suburb was named after Black Rock House, a grand residence built by Charles Ebden in 1856, who had taken the name from Black Rock, Dublin. Michael Phelps
Michael Fred Phelps II (born June 30, 1985) is an American former competitive swimmer. He is the most successful and most decorated Olympian of all time with a total of 28 medals. Ashley Callus
Ashley John Callus (born 10 March 1979) is an Australian former sprint freestyle swimmer, who won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Coming from Brisbane, Queensland, and of Maltese origin, Callus, graduated in Iona College, he was coached by Chris Urquhart, spent the beginning of his career as the understudy of fellow Australians Michael Klim and Chris Fydler. Matthew Stephen Targett (born 24 December 1985) is an Australian sprint freestyle and butterfly swimmer and model. Career 2006 Commonwealth Games In 2006 and in his home town of Melbourne, Targett competed in the 50-metre butterfly, finishing second and placing above more experienced countrymen Michael Klim and Matt Welsh. Lisbeth Constance Trickett, OAM (; born 28 January 1985) is a retired Australian swimmer. She was a gold medallist at the 2004 Summer Olympics, the 2008 Summer Olympics, and the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was the world record holder in the short-course (25m) 100-metre freestyle. Personal life Trickett was educated at Somerville House. She married swimmer Luke Trickett among scenes of tight security at Taronga Zoo on Sydney Harbour on 7 April 2007. Grant Stoelwinder
Grant Stoelwinder was head coach of the West Coast Swimming Club in Western Australia, working out of Challenge Stadium in Mount Claremont, Perth since 1997. Mel Tantrum, Grant's assistant coach for many years, is now the new head coach of West Coast Swimming Club. Grant was the head coach at SOPAC (Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre) and now coaches at Sydney Uni. His own career as a successful swimmer and National Gold Medalist and later as a coach working under Lyn Mackenzie, a former Olympic swimmer herself, has given Grant the experience and skill to provide a carefully structured program to enable his swimmers for success. Ian Crocker
Ian Lowell Crocker (born August 31, 1982) is an American former competition swimmer, five-time Olympic medalist, and former world record-holder. During his career, he set world records in the 50- and 100-meter butterfly (long course and short course) and the 100-meter freestyle (short course). He has won a total of twenty-one medals in major international competition, spanning the Olympics, the FINA World Aquatics Championships, and the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. He coached for many years at the Western Hills Athletic Club and has helped coach the Longhorns swim camp in 2019 as well as other years.
