The Mayor of Chieti is an elected politician who, along with the Chieti's City Council, is accountable for the strategic government of Chieti in Abruzzo, Italy. The current Mayor is Diego Ferrara ( PD), who took office on 8 October 2020. Overview According to the Italian Constitution, the Mayor of Chieti is member of the City Council. The Mayor is elected by the population of Chieti, who also elects the members of the City Council, controlling the Mayor's policy guidelines and is able to enforce his resignation by a motion of no confidence. Chieti (, ; , nap, label= Abruzzese, Chjïétë, ; gr, Θεάτη, Theátē; lat, Theate, ) is a city and ''comune'' (municipality) in Central Italy, east by northeast of Rome. It is the capital of the province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region. In Italian, the adjectival form is ''teatino'' and inhabitants of Chieti are called ''teatini''. SI was launched in November 2015 as a parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies (full name: Italian Left – Left Ecology Freedom), including Left Ecology Freedom (SEL), dissidents from the Democratic Party like Future to the Left, and splinters from the Five Star Movement.
