Five Tribes is a board game created by Bruno Cathala in which four players move and manipulate the five tribes in an attempt to gain control of the fictional Sultanate of Naqala. Unlike most worker placement games, Five Tribes begins with the Meeples already on the board. The rules are relatively simple, but the game requires complex strategies to outwit opponents and take control of the most land. Gameplay Players will take a set of Camels and turn markers of a color. Mangala (game)
Mangala is a traditional Turkish mancala game. It is strictly related to the mancala games Iraqi Halusa, Palestinian Al-manqala, and Baltic German Bohnenspiel. There is also another game referred as Mangala played by the Bedouin in Egypt, and Sudan, but it has quite different rules. The game can be traced in Ottoman miniatures starting from the 16th century. According to the Turkish ethnologue Metin And, the "mancala" of The Arabian Nights (fifteenth night) could be directly related to this game. It was first described in 1694 by British orientalist Thomas Hyde. The game was also referred as Mangola in some later western works. ''Oh-Wah-Ree'' is a mancala variant - a strategy board game designed by Alex Randolph and published in 1962 by 3M as part of their 3M bookshelf game series, bookshelf game line. The name "Oh-Wah-Ree" is taken from ''Oware'', a typical West African game for which it is based on. It is played on a board with a ring of pits and stone playing pieces, distinguished from other mancala variants by the use of a second ring of holes to mark ownership of pits by the players, allowing play between more than two players at a time. Cups was one of several games invented in 1965 by father and son Arthur Amberstone and Wald Amberstone who were both cofounders of the New York Gamers Association (N.Y.G.A.). They also invented Power, and High Deck, a card game based on medieval society. At the time both were working as basket makers as well as game designers in New York City.
