List Of LKL Champions
The Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) Finals is the championship finals series for the top-tier level professional club basketball league in Lithuania, the LKL, and the conclusion of the league's postseason. The Finals have been played in either a best-of-seven, or a best-of five format. The first LKL Finals series was held in 1994, and was contested by Žalgiris and Atletas, with Žalgiris winning the series 3–1. Žalgiris Kaunas has been the most successful team, having won 22 out of the 27 LKL Finals series that have been played so far. Lietuvos rytas Vilnius is the only other team to win the LKL Finals. History 1994–2000: Early dominance by Žalgiris Kaunas Žalgiris Kaunas won the first 6 LKL Finals series, from 1994 to 1999. 2018 LKL Finals
The 2018 LKL Finals was the championship series of the 2017–18 season, of the LKL. The finals series were scheduled from 9 June until 18 June 2018. Due to home court advantage, Žalgiris played Game 1, 3 and 5 at home. Žalgiris defeated Lietuvos rytas , earning the franchise its 20th LKL championship. Brandon Davies was named the Finals MVP. Venues The Žalgiris Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the New Town of Kaunas, Lithuania. The arena is located on an island of the Nemunas River. It is the largest indoor arena in the Baltics. The arena's maximum possible seating capacity for basketball games is 15,552, and 20,000 spectators for concerts (when the stage is in the middle, and 17,000 when stage is in the side of the arena). Gintaras "Vytas" Krapikas (born 6 July 1961 in Kretinga, Lithuanian SSR, USSR) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and a former international player. He was a member of the Lithuania national basketball team that won a bronze medal in Barcelona's 1992 Summer Olympics. He currently serves as an assistant coach of Žalgiris Kaunas. Playing career During the 1980s, while playing for Žalgiris, Krapikas' jersey number was 9, and his position was small forward. Joan Plaza
Joan Plaza Durán (born 26 December 1963) is a Spanish professional basketball coach, who was most recently worked for Coosur Real Betis of the Liga ACB. He trained Real Madrid Baloncesto for three years, winning one Liga ACB championship, and an ULEB Cup (now called EuroCup) title. In 2009, after a bad season, he was replaced in Real Madrid, by CSKA Moscow's successful coach, Ettore Messina. Aleksandar Trifunović ( sr-Cyrl, Александар Трифуновић; born 30 May 1967) is a Serbian professional basketball coach and former player who is the current head coach for Dinamo București of the Romanian Liga Națională. Playing career Trifunović began his pro career with Crvena zvezda before moving to KK Zadar where he played for 3 seasons under head coaches Dragan Šakota, Slavko Trninić, and Krešimir Ćosić. Ilias Zouros or Elias Zouros (Greek: Ηλίας Ζούρος; born March 11, 1966) is a Greek professional basketball coach, who last managed Promitheas Patras of the Greek Basket League and the EuroCup. Rimas Kurtinaitis (born May 15, 1960) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach, and a retired professional basketball player, who was a member of the senior Soviet and Lithuanian national basketball teams during his playing career. He won a gold medal at 1988 Olympics in South Korea. He recently worked as the head coach for Khimki. At a height of 1.96 m (6'5") tall, during his playing career, he played at the shooting guard position. Rimantas Grigas (born 1962, Klaipėda) is a Lithuanian basketball coach, known for his stint with Žalgiris Kaunas. He was coaching Atletas Kaunas in the 1996-1999 season. Before entering Žalgiris Kaunas coach staff, he was signed with Žalgiris stand-in. Before the resignation of previous head coach Ainars Bagatskis, he was his assistant. He was also head coach of BC Budivelnyk, and assumed the Belarus women's national basketball team in 2012, qualifying them for two EuroBasket Women and the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women before leaving in 2014. In 2013 he became head coach of BC Pieno žvaigždės, helping BC Pieno žvaigždės reach 5th place in the LKL in his lone season. Neven Spahija (born 6 November 1962) is a Croatian professional basketball coach who was most recently the head coach for Bitci Baskonia of the Liga ACB. He spent four years in the NBA as an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies. Jonas Kazlauskas (born 21 November 1954) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and former player. He was most recently the head coach of the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Playing career Kazlauskas played for Statyba Vilnius from 1973 to 1985.
