Uljin County (''Uljin-gun''; Korean language, Korean: 울진군) is a Administrative divisions of South Korea, county in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. Before 1963, Uljin was in Gangwon Province (South Korea), Gangwon Province. It borders the Sea of Japan in the east, Bonghwa-gun and Yeongyang-gun in the west, Yeongdeok-gun in the south, and Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do in the north. Pohang () is a city in the province of North Gyeongsang, South Korea, and a main seaport in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region. The built-up area of Pohang is located on the alluvium of the mouth of the Hyeongsan River. The city is divided into two wards ( ''gu''), Buk-gu or Northern Ward () and Nam-gu or Southern Ward (). The 2017 Pohang earthquake, measuring magnitude 5.4 on the moment magnitude scale, struck Heunghae, Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea on November 15, 2017. It is tied with the 2016 Gyeongju earthquake as the country's strongest earthquake in modern history. Earthquake The earthquake, along with several aftershocks, caused significant infrastructure damage in the southern port city of Pohang. At least 82 people were injured in the earthquake, including 15 people who were hospitalized. About 1,124 people stayed in temporary shelters after they had to leave their homes. Gyeongju ( ko, 경주, ), historically known as ''Seorabeol'' ( ko, 서라벌, ), is a coastal city in the far southeastern corner of North Gyeongsang Province in South Korea.
