The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Norway is the United Kingdom's foremost Diplomat, diplomatic representative in Norway, and head of the UK's diplomatic mission in Norway. Frank Brenchley
Thomas Frank Brenchley CMG (9 April 1918 – 7 July 2011) was a British diplomat. Career Frank Brenchley was educated at Sir William Turner's School, Coatham, North Yorkshire, and Merton College, Oxford. He served with the Royal Corps of Signals 1939–46 as an intelligence officer in the Middle East. He was assistant military attaché at Ankara 1943–45 while the spy Cicero was operating, and was Director, Telecommunications Liaison, Syria and Lebanon, 1945–46. After leaving the army he spent two years as a civil servant at GCHQ before transferring to the Foreign Office in 1949. He served in Singapore, Cairo, MECAS, Khartoum and Jeddah before returning to London as Head of the Arabian Department of the Foreign Office 1963–67 and then Assistant Under-Secretary of State, Foreign Office, 1967–68. Christopher Lintrup Paus
Christopher "Kiff" Lintrup Paus (; 6 November 1881 in – 28 May 1963) was a British diplomat, who served at the British Embassy in Oslo for several decades, as commercial counsellor and as the British consul in Oslo and head of the British consular service in Norway. He wrote several published reports on industrial and economic affairs in Norway. He attended Bradford Grammar School and Jesus College, Oxford (1900–1904), where he graduated with a master's degree in 1904. He became commercial attaché at the British Embassy in Oslo in December 1914, in succession to Sir Francis Oppenheimer, was promoted to commercial secretary for Norway in May 1919 and served as the British consul in Oslo from 1926 to 1931. Richard Wood is a British diplomat, who served as the British Ambassador to Norway from 2018 to 2023. Early life Richard John Wood was born on 27 August 1967 in Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, England. Wood is the son of John Michael Wood and Christine Barbara Wood. Wood was educated at Lynn Grove High School and East Norfolk Sixth Form College. Wood attended Leeds Polytechnic, graduating with a BA (Hons) in European languages and institutions in 1990. Career Wood joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1990. His first role was as Desk Officer for the Single Market, European Presidency, and Gibraltar. His first foreign posting was as the Second Secretary for internal politics in Cape Town and Pretoria. Sarah Gillett (born 21 July 1956) is a British former diplomat who was British Ambassador to Norway from July 2014 to 2018. Jane Caroline Owen (born ) is a British diplomat. She is the current Governor of the Cayman Islands and the second woman to hold this position. She had previously served as the British ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein and the British ambassador to Norway. Career Owen was born in Bilston and educated at Ellerslie School in Malvern (now merged with Malvern College) and Trinity College, Cambridge. Dame Alison Mariot Leslie, (born 25 June 1954), known as Mariot Leslie, is a former British diplomat whose last post was Permanent Representative to NATO. When she was replaced at NATO it was announced that she would retire from the Diplomatic Service. Sir Richard Nigel Dales, KCVO, CMG (born 1942) is a retired British diplomat. After attending St Catharine's College, Cambridge, Dales entered the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1964 and was appointed to HM Diplomatic Service in 1972. He was First Secretary at the United Kingdom's Embassy in Bulgaria from 1977 to 1981, then Counsellor at the Embassy in Denmark from 1982 to 1986, when he became Deputy High Commissioner in Zimbabwe. William Bentley (June 22, 1759, Boston, Massachusetts – December 29, 1819, Salem, Massachusetts) was an American Unitarian minister, scholar, columnist, and diarist. He was a polymath who possessed the second best library in the United States (after that of Thomas Jefferson), and was an indefatigable reader and collector of information at the local national and international level. Starting in 1794, he produced a weekly news summary of world events for the local newspaper the '' Salem Gazette.'' He provided a highly sophisticated capsule of current political and cultural news, set in a broad historical context.
