The 1986 Soviet embassy attack in Lima was a terrorist attack on July 7, 1986, against the official residence of the delegation of the Soviet Union in Peru. The attack failed to result in the death of any Soviet citizen, killing one terrorist. Internal Conflict In Peru
The internal conflict in Peru is an ongoing armed conflict between the Government of Peru and the Marxism–Leninism–Maoism, Maoist guerilla group Shining Path. The conflict began on 17 May 1980, and from 1982 to 1997 the Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement waged its own insurgency as a Marxist–Leninist rival to the Shining Path. The 1970 Ancash earthquake (also known as the Great Peruvian earthquake) occurred on 31 May off the coast of Peru in the Pacific Ocean at .
