Shandong ( , ; ; alternately romanized as Shantung) is a coastal province of the People's Republic of China and is part of the East China region. Shandong has played a major role in Chinese history since the beginning of Chinese civilization along the lower reaches of the Yellow River. It has served as a pivotal cultural and religious center for Taoism, Chinese Buddhism and Confucianism. Laiwu District
Laiwu District () is one of 10 urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, East China. It has an area of and 989,535 inhabitants as of 2010 census. Nevertheless, its built-up area made of Laiwu District and Gangcheng District (the previous Laiwu city) was home to 1,298,529 inhabitants. In January 2019, the Shandong provincial government announced in a decision that Laiwu Prefecture-level City was absorbed by Jinan. Laicheng District was renamed to Laiwu District under Jinan's administration. Jiaozhou (), formerly Jiaoxian or Jiao County, is a county-level city of Qingdao sub-provincial city, Shandong Province, China. It gained its current county-level city designation in 1987. It has an area of and a population at the 2000 Census of 783,478. Laoshan District () is an urban district (区) of Qingdao, Shandong. It has an area of and had approximately 379,500 inhabitants as of 2010. It is home to Mount Lao, which gave the district its name. Geography Laoshan District is located in the south of the Shandong Peninsula, facing the Yellow Sea in the east and south. It covers with of coastline. The mountain ranges of Laoshan cover most of the eastern part of the district. The district belongs to north temperature zone, with a monsoon-influenced temperate climate. Huangdao District
Huangdao District () and Xihai'an New Area (), also known as Qingdao West Coast is a district and a state-level new area of Qingdao, Shandong, China, located southwest and west of the main urban area of the city on the western shore of Jiaozhou Bay. It was identical to Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone (QETDZ, ), which was launched in 1985 after the zone was merged with Huangdao District and set up the Free Trade Zone in 1992. In December 2012, Jiaonan, a county-level city in Qingdao was merged into Huangdao District.
