Lise Gregory
Lise Gregory (born 29 August 1963) is a South African former tennis player who played primarily doubles. She played left-handed. Her career-high doubles ranking in 1990 was no. 18. She reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and was one of the top eight teams participating in the year-end Virginia Slims Championships. She played in college for the University of Miami, earning seven NCAA All-American awards in both singles and doubles and the NCAA doubles championship in 1986 with long-time doubles partner Ronni Reis. After her playing career, she became a college coach, first assistant coach at Vanderbilt University, then head coach at Florida State University and the University of North Carolina at Asheville, earning numerous coaching awards. Cynthia MacGregor (March 26, 1964 – February 13, 1996) was a professional tennis player from the United States. Biography MacGregor, who was known as "Cinny", was born in Torrance, California. From 1983 to 1986, she played collegiate tennis at San Diego State University, where she was a five time All-American. She competed on the professional tour mostly as a doubles player, reaching 50 in the world. In doubles she often partnered with younger sister Cammy MacGregor and the pair made four WTA Tour finals together, including a title win in Taipei in 1987. Her most notable performance in singles was a second round appearance at the 1988 Australian Open, where after beating Patricia Hy in the first round, she lost in the second round to eventual quarter-finalist Claudia Porwik, 11–13 in the deciding set. Mercedes María Paz (; born 27 June 1966) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. She won three singles titles on the WTA Tour and reached a career-high ranking of world No. 28 in April 1991. Her best Grand Slam result was the fourth round at the 1986 French Open and the 1990 French Open. Paz unexpectedly defeated defending champion Arantxa Sánchez Vicario in the second round of the 1990 French Open. The Internationaux de Strasbourg (formally known as the Strasbourg Grand Prix) is a professional women's tennis tournament held in Strasbourg, France. It is an International-level outdoor event of the WTA Tour played on clay courts. Elizabeth Smylie (née Sayers, born 11 April 1963), sometimes known as Liz Smylie, is a retired Australian tennis player. During her career, she won four Grand Slam titles, one of them in women's doubles and three in mixed doubles. She also won three singles titles and 36 doubles titles on the tour. Career Smylie turned professional in 1982. She won the women's doubles title at Wimbledon in 1985 with Kathy Jordan. Gretchen Anne Rush (born February 7, 1964), also known by her married name Gretchen Magers, is a former professional tennis player from the United States who was active in the 1980s and early 1990s. Rush played tennis at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas from 1983 to 1986, where she was a four-time All-American. The German Open (currently known as the Grass Court Championships Berlin or bett1open) is a WTA Tour affiliated professional tennis tournament for women played in West Berlin, West Germany (until 1990), then Berlin, Germany from 1991 to 2008 following reunification. Held since 1896, it was one of the oldest tournaments for women. Until 1978 the tournament was held in Hamburg together with the men's tournament. From 1988, it was classified on the WTA Tour as a Tier I tournament. After an absence of more than a decade, the tournament was announced to return to the WTA calendar for the 2020 season.
