Lisa Hannigan
Lisa Margaret Hannigan (born 12 February 1981) is an Irish musician, singer, composer, and voice actress. She began her musical career as a member of Damien Rice's band. Since beginning her solo career in 2007 she has released three albums: ''Sea Sew'' (2008), ''Passenger'' (2011), and ''At Swim'' (2016). Hannigan's music has received award nominations both in Ireland and the United States. Hannigan also received attention in North America for her role as Blue Diamond in ''Steven Universe'', an American animated television series created by Rebecca Sugar. Early life and education Hannigan was born in Dublin but grew up in Kilcloon, County Meath, Ireland. ''O'' is the debut studio album by Irish musician Damien Rice, originally released on 1 February 2002, in Ireland and in the United Kingdom. The album is dedicated to Rice's friend Mic Christopher, who died of a head injury in 2001. Background Damien Rice was previously a member of the band Juniper, and upon the disbandment due to changes in creative direction, he took a sabbatical in rural Italy before returning to Ireland. He would meet with his second cousin, composer David Arnold who was impressed upon hearing Rice's songs and sent Rice's demo to music publishers to no success. Rebecca Rea Sugar (born July 9, 1987) is an American animator and screenwriter. She is best known for being the creator of the Cartoon Network series ''Steven Universe'', making her the first non-binary person to independently create a series for the network. Until 2013, Sugar was a writer and storyboard artist on the animated television series ''Adventure Time''. Her work on the two series has earned her seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Background Hannigan had been touring for more than two years with her 2011 album '' Passenger''. The words, she says, just dried up. Lisa Hannigan decided to leave Dublin and travelled to Paris where she resided for a number of months and then travelled onwards to London in an effort to overcome a period of writer's block and hoping her new adventure would inspire her to begin songwriting again. ''Passenger'' is the second and Choice Music Prize nominated album from Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan. The album was released in the US and Canada on 20 September 2011 and in the Republic of Ireland on 7 October 2011 (brought forward from the originally scheduled date, 21 October). The LP features 11 new tracks. The album was self-released in Ireland and UK through her label, Hoop Records.
